Re: las vegas hotel recommendations
The pool at the MGM Grand is awesome! The guest rooms aren't bad either, but they are very basic. They would rather you be spending your time (and money) down in the casino. I wouldn't recommend the NEW YORK NEW YORK - the carpeting and wallpaper patterns were enough to make me nauseous! LOL!
As an alternative, if you're interested in staying somewhere that's really LOVELY and not directly on the Strip, I *highly* recommend the Lake Las Vegas Hyatt Resort and Spa. It's only 17 miles (by car) from the strip and it's got more of a golf/resort atmosphere. If you're not into gambling too much, this is the perfect place b/c you enter through a grand lobby - not a casino. DH and I stayed at this place on the weekend we got engaged, so it holds very fond memories for us.
Here's some pics, you might want to check it out:

I went once and stayed at the Mirage. Its a very nice hotel. Service and atmoshphere was great. It has a jungle type feel and the tigers they have are sooo adorable. I also liked the hotel because it attracted mid to older business type crowds, no kids!!

We stayed at the Rio. It is off the strip, but it is such a fun hotel

I like the Ventian and the Bellagio the best. They are a little more pricey. You may also want to check out paris or Mandalay Bay

Re: las vegas hotel recommendations
I have stayed at the MGM plenty of times for work (with Claud too). And it is a nice hotel,, has a great resturant in it too. I think Bellagio is amazing but I have not been inside the rooms. if you stay there you can try to get tickets to see 'O' which is their show and it is truly amazing and worth every single penny. Mandalay Bay is also nice and has a great wave pool.

Re: las vegas hotel recommendations
How much are you willing to spend? All recommendations are dependent upon price...nice hotels (ones I wish I could afford every year) are much pricier than your average hotel.DH and I stay at the Sahara, because we're not concerned with the look of the room. We are hardly ever in it, so for $40/night, it's fine by us.
But if money were no object, I would definitely recommend Venetian, Paris, Bellagio, Monte Carlo. All these are on the strip.
DH and I are splurging this year for 2 nights at the Palms. I am a Real World fan, and that's where they lived, so I wanted to check it out!! (Yes, pathetic, I know!!)

Marnles- We usually splurge on hotels when we go away. I was looking into the Venetian and Bellagio, but wanted to see what else is out there too.Not at all pathetic. I was a big Real World Fan this year too. I want to at least stop by The Palms when I am there to check the place out

Cindy -We will be there from the 13th - 23rd...We are actually going to California for two days in between, and ending with two days in the Grand Canyon...Are you trying to go down before your anniversary? If so, we should meet for a drink over a game of blackjack!!
