Me and DH are going tonight to see it! I hope its good!!
UPDATE: Ok as promised I will give a mini review.
This movie is not that scary. It is more of a thriller than scary. There are some graphic parts, nudity , sex and violence. I absolutley loved it. Its not at all about any kind of monster or haunting. Its more of a realistic movie. I def reccomend seeing it. If I had to compare it to any movie situation If you saw Cape Fear with Robert Deniro or Fear with Mark Wahlberg then you will like this movie because its along the lines of that movie. Hope that sums it up!!

just a warning: if u ladies decide to rent the ORIGINAL 'last house on the left' be forewarned... i saw it when i was 17 and i am still tramatized to this day. a little different from the one they just put out, completely realistically graphic and extremely disturbing. i will never see that movie again. i think it just bothered me because stuff that went on in the movie really DOES go on...it's not like it's a scary man in a mask/old hollywood thrasher style.. it's about phsycotic people torturing other human beings in a very real way. ugh - i just couldn't handle it.

well - the original was about a really good clean-cut girl from a fairly wealthy family who becomes good friends with another chic from school who's a very 'free spirit'...they head out to a concert & on the way home meet new friends..they go to their apt. to smoke some weed, only to find out they're kidnapped. it's a long movie of them being tortured...in the end the parents of the girl discover who the kidnappers are..and well..i wont spoil anything, but that's the jist.
ugh. just typing about this movie freaks me out!!

Like actually watching a girl get raped makes me very uncomfortable and i heard that this scene was pretty graphic! Was it?

cassandra - i dont know about the new one, but in the original it's all very disturbing..not only do they show the rape, but the guy rapes her in front of her friend and in front of the other kidnappers. there's so many really twisted things..i remember there's a part where they make the two girls pee on each other..another part where one of the guys carves into the girls stomach with a pocket knife.. UUUGGH i can't. i'm not posting on this thread anymore because i'm going to have nightmares!!! lol. when i was 17, my mom was like 'EVERY teenage girl should watch this to realize how easy something like this can happen'...i rented it, and in the midst of watching it my mom was like 'TARYN..i can not believe i'm making u watch this... i have no recollection of it being this horrible - turn it off!' lol.
ANYWAYS, sorry for hyjacking - as i DIDN'T see the new one and dont know if it's necessarily in line with the original...just figured i'd throw it out there in case some people are thinking of renting the original!

wow. Yeah, that sounds WAY too disturbing for somebody like me to handle. Thanks Taryn. I knew from the moment I saw previews that this was not one to see. I am just no good at all with things like that at all! Even just reading what you wrote totally made me cringe.
(and I can totally see your mom being like that too - making you watch it only to regret it during. lol. She's too funny).
