Hi ladies, for those that have already changed your last names~did you order extra copies of your marriage license? A few sites I've gone on say that some of the gov. agencies need originals for their files. TIA
I got the copy in the mail and I went to the Municipal Building in Brooklyn and bought a second copy. I still have both copies, though. The only place I needed to mail an original was the passport office and they mailed it back to me.

what are you looking to change? i already changed my last name with social security and the DMV and i only had to show them my marriage license but they didn't need a copy of it. credit cards i was able to change just over the phone.
i went to the town clerk and just ordered extra copies..i think they wer elike 10 bucks each
I didn't order extra copies. I went to DMV and SS in person. They looked at the original marriage certificate, but gave it back.

I wanted to change my SS card first and I thought I read that they needed to keep the orig. copy of the marriage cert. But, I guess I read it wrong. Thanks ladies xoxo
