last w/e of Yankee stadium

i'm not a huge bball fan but i feel sad to see this piece of history go.

thoughts?

it's so sad......i can't believe it

glad i got to make it to two games over the summer. i'm sure the new one will be nice, but you can't replace all the history and memories

I was there yesterday and I was emotional....going again today and I can't imagine what a mess I will be! That stadium stores sooo many memories for me there....even personal ones. It's a huge part of me and DH's relationship.

Excited about the new place, though. I hate to see the old one go....but I guess it's time.

I'm working today but will be wearing my Yankee bracelet proudly..


I am getting teary eyed just watching the Yankeeography on the stadium.. w t f is wrong with me? DH is DVRing the 'festivities' so I can watch it later... Thank goodness I'll be home in time for the actual game

awww there is nothing wrong with you. I think its hard when you grew up going there, and is such a big part of NYC which i think it is with all its history. I even think about other things such as, Dh not being able to take our kids to the same ballpark that he grew up going to, it will be a different one.

this definitely is the saddest part, or at least for me. i think its hard for many of us to think that we wont be able to take our kids to the same ballpark...Im sure so many yankee fans thought about how when they have kids they cant wait to take them to a game at this ballpark, share the history with their kids and take them to the same ballpark their dad took them to awww that last line just made me real sad

i mean, was the stadium in such bad condition that they had to tear it down? or was this purely financial? i hear the new tickets are going to be astronomical! at the new shea too! who could even afford to bring their kids???

the new prices are seriously ridiculous. Now there are alot more box seats and yeah i think its for that reason. They will make more money now bc they are catering to those who have alot of money and will spend that much for tix. Which is sad bc like you said, what about those who cant afford and want to bring their kids.
