I gave my notice at work and that night my boss called and told me there was no reason to come in. Im trying to figure out if I can collect unemployment temporarily or he has to compensate me in some way
hmm...i guess it depends on the place of employment???? but if u gave notice i would think they'd have to let u finish out ur days with compensation considering ur not technically quitting until that day.

Either way, what it comes down to...is that if you are telling the boss that you plan on leaving in 2 weeks and he basically says no, don't come back...then it seems that he is terminating your services and therefore you would be eligible for unemployment compensation. Do you plan on showing up at work anyway on Monday? What did you say when he said not to come back?

Sounds pretty shady to me........ do you have an HR department that you can phone on Monday and talk to someone about this? I just don't think it sounds right.........

This happened thursday night, so I didnt go to work on friday. He left me a message and when I called his phone it went straight to VM and truthfully I couldnt leave a professional) message

Im glad that I gave my notice, in a way Im even happier he told me not to come back~but I just feel like it was screwy thing to do. In one sense I really dont care about unemployment or getting 'back' at him, but Im annoyed that he didnt have the decency to SAY it to me, or call back until I picked up the phone

thats the problem. Had I decided that I wasnt going back on my own, I at least would have called and if he didnt pick up ask him to call me or keep calling until I got him on the phone. OR gone into work and told him.
