Hi girls! I posted something on LIF already but I am still driving myself nuts and seeking some advice. We closed on our house in October. We paid the lawyer with our closing costs. The PBA reimburses us for up to $600 of our lawyer fees. Now its March and I still haven't gotten our $. I called the PBA 2 weeks ago and they said they mailed out the check to the lawyer in December. I have been calling the lawyer and getting no answer. I finally got ahold of him last Wednesday and he told me he would 'check his deposits and get back to me on Friday'. Friday came and went and no call. I called again today, was told he'd call me back, and again he did not. Does this seem shady? What would you do if you were in my situation? Please help a neurotic newlywed! Marie

I'm so not a lawyer, but it does sound a little off. No Offnese to any laywers, but I know when my mom dealt with laywers for her divorce it took forever and they laways seemed to be blowing her off when she called. I think a lot of laywers are always so busy its hard to stop and return calls and look into little things, even if its not right.

Thanks for easing my nerves a lil bit. It just irks me because I paid him on time, I just want my money! If he was going to keep the $600, he should have just charged me that much more, ya know??? Ugh! Thanks for your response!

how come the PBA didn't just send the check to you directly? I'd maybe threaten threaten the lawyer that your going to call to stop payment on the check and call the PBA and let them know you can't find the laywer to please stop payment if this continues. I feel for ya.

Hey thanks for responding...the lawyer said it was typical for us to pay him, and then the PBA sends the check to him, and he reimburses us....hmmm, maybe I should've been weary of that....DH is calling the PBA in the a.m., it's just so silly to be dealing with this nonsense! Thanks!
