Learn anything new?

Original post by SFAR89

Since being married, have you found out anything new about DH that you never knew before?

When we got our apartment and I purchased new pillows and stuff, I made sure I got rid of his old, flat, yucky pillows. He came home and saw that they were replaced and FLIPPED out. I definitely marked that down as one lesson learned.

1) Don't change his pillows unless you ask first, and even then he will probably say he doesn't want new pillows haha

I think so far this is all I have, but I am sure as time goes on I will get yelled at for more and add to this list lol

We lived together for 2 1/2 years before we got married so I really didn't learn anything I didn't know about him before.

I lived with DH for 6 years before we were married - we started living together about 6 months after we started dating - so I really can say the same - there is probably NOTHING I don't know about his living habits!

This was definitely a plus for me don't you think?

Definitely. We were living together at a part of the relationship when it was still NEW ... so even things he did that I didn't like didn't bother me so much because I was still so in love, you know?

Honestly, he doesn't do too much that bothers me around the house. He doesn't always put his dirty clothes in the hamper, which annoys me, and he leaves his shoes in the living room all the time - sometimes I will pick up 4 pairs of shoes and bring them into the bedroom ... and he never, ever changes the TP when it's finished - he will use the new roll for DAYS and leave it on the sink counter rather than just replace the roll - but those are small things (compared to him never doing laundry .... )!

Are we married to the same person? lol. DH is the same way but you know what SLOWLY very very SLOWLY the TP is appearing on the holder. I almost fainted when I went into the bathroom and saw that.

That DH will still do stuff on his time and nagging won't work

Omg, that sounds like me! lol I am such a lazy bum sometimes and I leave my slippers and shoes in the living room lol The dog starts to get to them and then I pick them up. I also used to leave the toilet paper on the sink too! :(

I am like a bad DH! lol

HMMM...DH and I did not live together before...so many people gave us a hrd time saying we were CRAZY, we were gonna be in for a shock...

Were not at all... I dont think I learned anything new about DH that I didnt know in the time we were dating....so I for one disagree with the whole 'you need to live with someone to really know them' but then again we dated for 4 yrs before we got married.

The one thing I was worried about is that since he didnt do much at home he wouldnt in our house..but I was totally wrong he does plenty!

Re: Learn anything new?

I lived with DH for almost three years before we got married so not much has changed except I have to constantly clean up after his mess. I try to leave everything on the counter so that he might get the hint but nope, it can be left there for a week and not get tossed out.
Some of the new things I learned, he dislikes:
chores, anything with cleaning (except organizing files and stuff), procrastinating so that either myself or someone else gets the job done, splurging on things (dining out, buying too much or pricey items), and throwing clothes and things all over the place. I think after we got married, his habits got worse. Before when we lived together, he wasn't such a slob. Now, it's become a f/t job for me to constantly clean up after his mess. It's a no-win situation when I bring it up with him, it only turns into a fight where I'm being 'hysterical' about it.

I have to agree that my DH is not as neat as he led me to believe. when I would visit his apartment before we got married, which is now our apartment , it was neat and clean, everything had it place .After we got married, it all changed.

Wet towels on the floor, he hasn't picked up a broom or mop since the day before we got married, he puts the toilet seat down, but he seems to miss his mark: still love him though

That he never changes the toilet paper or closes his dresser drawers. We never lived together before we got married either so it has definitely been an adjustment...but a good one overall.
