LI Housing Market

LI Housing Market

Here is an article you might find interesting - Nassau/Suffolk, NY has had the 4th largest increase in home prices in the U.S. over the past year. Great for those who already have a home, not great I guess for those who don't. Prices are skyrocketing!

Re: LI Housing Market

So true. And 20% seems the average over the last few years. We started looking for a house prior tp 9/11 and then we put it off for a year. By the time we started looking again, the prices had increased by about $100K. We ended up spending much more than we anticipated in 2001.

We're having a house built. They started building in August of last year. We haven't even moved in yet, and our appraiser just valued it for almost 20% more than we spent. And we've actually had people go to our agent and offer to buy it for that much!

Nesconset, off 347. About 2 minutes away from the mall.

Susan: My SIL lives near there (in Stony Brook). It is a very nice area, good luck.

Susans, looks like we'll be neighbors when you move in. We're in St. James, also 2 minutes from the mall.

Thanks!
I can't wait to move back out there.

JennRenee - I was just going to say the same thing! LOL!

I just wanted to add that living that close to the mall is dangerous.
Luckily for Patrick, it's not the greatest mall in the world, so the damage isn't too extensive.

We actually looked in St. James too.
My girlfriend grew up out there (Fifty Acre Rd. S)
We're off Brown's Rd. with 25 on the other side. The development that's behind Seaman's.

DH is lucky too.
I don't particularly care for that mall either. I'll go to Huntington or Roosevelt Field.

Re: LI Housing Market

Susan, that's very close to us! We turn onto Fifty Acre S to get to our house!

Good luck w/everything...when are you moving in?

Re: LI Housing Market

I live 1 block off of 50 Acres Rd South. It's a beautiful, friendly neighborhood and we love it.

I know right where you'll be. The homes there are lovely. You must be very excited.

Jenn- what's the name of your block??

JennRenee Posted:

Re: LI Housing Market

Huntington is my mall of choice because it's closer than RF and more convenient, but if someone else is driving, I'm a RF girl any day.

Re: LI Housing Market

That's so funny that you guys live right there. My girlfriends parent sold that house ages ago. I haven't been down that block in years, but it's a beautiful neighborhood and an awsome school district.

I love our house. I'm very excited about the move. It was supposed to be done in January though, so I'm a bit antsy to get in it already. The weather isn't helping. They can't put our driveway in with the snow and the frozen ground...
all in due time I suppose.
