Re: lifestyle changes
I hate spending money when I don't have to and people have actually called me cheap, which I'm by far. Since we bought our home we have spent less going out so that's where we have saved. When buying stuff I do make sure I'm getting stuff on sale and I will shop around for more expensive items. I have done this in the past so it's something I will continue to do.

My friends have called me cheap too...but now that most of them are homeowners (and I was always paying to live) they see it's not cheap it's necessary! lol

Yeah, well the people that call me cheap are still living at home, had their parents pay for their education, weddings, etc, or just don't pay their bills
BTW, I enjoyed reading your blog!

Re: lifestyle changes
I have to say I just read your blog and I totally agree. I grew up in a similar situtuion. I really never went without and we always had but nothing extravagant. My parents worked hard and saved so we (my brother and I) could have a future. Your right about all the material things, they don't matter in the long run. Its the memories of good times that matter. Now that I am married DH and I are trying to be as responsible as we can. We are trying to save for future. I think it is so important to remember those values that we grew up with, and live a life that is responsible.

My parents did the same thing. They went with out things so we could have things and start our adult lives with a clean slate. I am very thankful for that. I think responsible is a good word...if you can afford things great! But if you can't then don't live a lie and pretend..I guess that's what I am going for! Like you said memories are the most important things!
