My dad used to take it and had many of the same issues you're having with it. The doctor changed him to another medication, not sure which one.

Re: Lipitor
i think I agree with you about not taking it till you talk to your doctor- do they have an on-call service you can call and ask?

Re: Lipitor
my dad took it, and it really gave him problems with his legs. he has bad knees to begin with, so they switched up his medicine (not sure which one though). it should be fine to stop taking it until you're able to speak with your doctor.

Re: Lipitor
My Grandma is on it, and I know in the beginning she wanted to come off it because she said her legs were bothering her. I think now she is fine on it, but it took her a while to get use to it.

Re: Lipitor
He/she could change the dose or switch to a different med. The patients I see usually have been on it so I never have encountered this. The pain is in both legs?

Re: Lipitor
My DH was on it for a few years as a preventative since he has diabetes. It caused him severe back pain. Once he stopped taking it, it took almost 90 days to get out of his system and he is 100% pain free now.
I also wanted to add that I was on Tricor and had pain in my legs - I felt like I had sand bags in my knees and ankles.
IMO these drugs are still new and you are better off finding healthier ways to lower your cholesterol than taking these terrible medicines.
Please discontinue and speak to your doctor. Keep in mind that your doctor will probably tell you to try it again or recc another type with the same effects. Remember you are you own advocate for your body and if it doesn't feel right then it probably isn't.

Re: Lipitor
Linda, I was on Lipitor as well as some other meds for cholesterol. I think they all did that to me!!! It's a side effect you don't want. Tell your Dr. Mary MOB
