Does anyone take this? I got put on it right after my honeymoon.
Here is my concern. Since my wedding day I have gained 33 lbs. I figured it was from the stomach issues I had in the fall. But for the last month I am working out 5 days a week, and for the last two months I have been following WW, and seeing no results. I have lost 2 lbs. in 8 weeks. I did some research last night and it seems people were complaining that they gained 10-30 lbs. from this pill. Anyone had any experience with it?
Meanwhile I have a wedding this weekend and none of my dresses fit. I have to go buy a size 14. I could cry.

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
I have never been on that pill, but I have gained considerable amounts of weight in the past from other hormone medications, so I feel your pain.
Some doctors claim that OCP does not cause weight gain, but I don't buy it. I think different hormones will affect people differently. Is it possible that the Loestrin is causing you to retain water? When I was on Orthotricyclin (sp??) years ago, I was retaining a tremendous amount of water. The doctor switched me to Yasmin, which has a diuretic, and that helped. Maybe you just need a different pill with a slightly different combination of hormones.
Good luck!

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
I went on it about a month before my wedding and I dont know if I gained much weight (i was working out a lot and super stressed, so that may have been why) but I noticed that I was extremely bloated and I was a real psycho. I only took it for 2 weeks and switched to YAZ and I love it.

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
i would def say its prob the pill! i was told before i went on it, from friends that it causes you to gain a crap load of weight...and your appetite increases...
so when i first went on it i was on othrotricyclin low and i went crazy with working out cuz i already had no problem gainin weight i didnt want anything to add to it. lol so basically i was able to maintian my weight... then i switched to yaz and was able to lose a bunch for the wedding!
im off it now, and still eat like a pig so i dont know if it really increases your appetite, but prob does make you retain water.

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
I didn't gain any weight on loestrin 24 fe, but I also didn't like the way it made me feel. I switched a couple of times and then just stopped taking the pill at all.

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
Thanks girls. I have an appointment with my OBGYN for the week before Memorial Day. I want to switch. I just switched after my wedding because Apri was causing staining on my lip and killing my sex drive. I loved Ortho-Tricyclin but I got a cyst on it. Going off isn't an option because I get cysts, until I go off to get pregnant, which I am super worried about. But I think I would rather have cysts then buy size 14 pants.

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
I've been on loestrin 24 fe for a while now and I haven't gained anything and it's the only pill that has worked well with me. I've tried others but they never worked for me for different reasons. Like with Yaz, I was crazyyy and crying every day! No joke!!

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
I took it last year to avoid my period during the wedding and honeymoon so I was only on it for 3 months but I didnt put on any weight and it made my boobs enormous, other than that I didn't feel any changes at all....everyone is different, if you think the pill is making you gain then try switching to another, it might be the pill making you retain water.

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
I used to be on Loestrin 24 fe, I was pulled of by my doctors. I was getting migraines 2-3 times a week, and would have my cycle either every 2 weeks, or one lasted an entire month while I was still taking it.
I was switched to Yaz

I was on this about 3yrs ago for about 2 weeks and noticed I gained about 5lbs (without eating more etc) and I was a complete psycho so I came off it and went back to yaz

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
Soonest my OBGYN can see me is after Memorial Day. But I have been working out like crazy and eating healthy and not dropping a lb. So thats it, I am not taking it. I warned DH that I am not taking the pill until I see the OBGYN and he said if it helps me loose weight and I stop complaining he is all for it (but he isn't touching me for three weeks because he is not ready to be a dad )

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
i was on that pill for a few months before my wedding. i never noticed weight gain but that could be cuz i have been on the pill for 9 years.
but i think in your case it coul dbe the pill since a side effect is weight gain. i did notice with that pill though that i didnt get my period every month. apparently thats common with that pill so if you skip a period dont fret

Re: Loestrin 24 fe
I put on 15 lbs because of the pill I'm on. It's so frustrating but i am going to the Dr monday to talk about a different route. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but now that i did I need to figure out how to drop this weight.
