The above pin was Being Sold at the Republican state convention in Texas this past weekend.
Disgusting isnt it ?!
you have to read between the lines... This wasn't at a republican NATIONAL convention.. It was in Texas.
and yes, I often vote republican.. Please recognize that this was not a national convention. Many republicans came out and voiced their disapproval of this..
This statement below was taken right from the article that you are quoting.. It was ONE vendor..
While a number of speakers -- such as Railroad Commission chairman Michael Williams and Mike Huckabee -- have praised the advance of Barack Obama and what it means towards a colorblind society, at least one vendor hasn't gotten the message. At the Republican state convention, a booth hosted by Republicanmarket was selling a pin Saturday that says: If Obama is President will we still call it the White House. There were other pins that weren't necessarily conveying the positive, inclusive, united front that has been portrayed during the convention. One said, 'Press 1 for English. Press 2 for Deportation' and another, 'I will hold my nose when I vote for McCain'
I think it is ignorant for anyone to read this as a 'republican pin' and to lump ALL republicans into 1 group.. It was made by one (obviously radical) republican vendor. It is a shame. When I saw this last night on Perez, I looked into it. Once I saw it was a state convention in TEXAS, it all made sense. We know that racism, in some aspect, still thrives in certain areas. As disgusting and unforgivable as it is. Also, RepublicanMarket.com is *not* 'supported' by the republican party exclusively.. It has numerous oddball financial supporters. It is also housed out of FLORIDA.
DO NOT READ THIS AS 'REPUBLICAN'. To do so is to be ignorant & believe everything the media feeds you.
Flame away, I'm a big girl.
ETA: I AM NOT CONDONING RACISM nor do I condone this pin.. I simply do not want to be pegged as a republican this disgusting.. please read the articles surrounding this pin.. ASAP

I am with you Heather. Thanks for looking it up. Voting conservative doesn't mean you're a nutty right winger who carries a plastic fetus around and waks people with it, anymore than voting liberally makes you a kool-aid drinking fool who would bring down the entire economy.
Names in general are just not nice. We all know that but unfrotunately extremes from both sides have the opportunity to color people's perceptions and create misconceptions about either Party.
Many republicans are simply middle of the road, sometimes leaning towards mroe conersative values that some liberals migth not consider important.
But lets not judge entire parties here. Thats really disgusting, just as much so as that HORRIBLE PIN (which I do not condone at all, anymore than I condone liberals who scream that republicans are alll GB robots-not cool) and it causes division between people and we don't need that here. I think the Republican partys gotten A HORRIBLE rap because of GB and I can say I do not condone all of his policies and actions nor do I agree with all f them, but he is ONE man, he is not THE republican party. WE, the voters are the ones that compose it and most of us are pretty mdoerate in most things.
Off the soapbox now. Thanks again Heather for researching it and stating clear arguments.

Re: Low Blows at the Republican convention
Thank you so much for posting the whole story. the media has an awful way of picking out specific things and then taking them completely out of context! I don't consider myself a republican nor particularly conservative, but I 100% agree with teh need for full information! There are people who take things over the line in all groups and these people should not be representative of any group as a whole!
