Mac Computers-is this a good deal?

So since my computer is shipped off being fixed. I was considering looking into getting a Mac for business related stuff. I have a friend who can get MacBooks (Brand new but the generation before the new one that just came out) for 800 bucks. Who here has a MacBook and do you think 800 is a good deal?

DH just got one for Christmas and it was $999 so you are getting a $300 discount (if you don't have to pay taxes on it). They seem to be great computers!

i dont have the macbook, but i do have a mac here at work, and I love it! When I go home to my PC, i miss the MAC!

I have been anti-MAC for sometime, but recently, I'm coming around. I think our next computer will be a MAC.

2 GB DDR2 memory
120 GB hard drive

On the site its 999 without tax.
I think I can get the person to sell it for 700. They said they would work with me.

never had a problem unlike my PC experiences...rather windows in general.

Is it new or refurb? I mean my mac pro tower was about $2,500 but I got a discount so I think in the end it was 2kish. I think normally if you go for a mac pro laptop (which is probably more power then you would need unless you do lots of video editing/design work) $1,999.00 for the 'cheapest' model and for a a plain (i call imac) laptop which I recommend to anyone who doesn't do heavy graphic design/video editing can run from $999.00 to 1,600. I would go for the lowest and see if you can add memory (memory is always cheap to buy and add) but I am not sure on laptops if that works.

I LOVE my mac and haven't liked working on a pc (i do both at work) except for a few applications that just are my fluent on a pc then mac (outlook), never have to do oodles of maintence on it and it only crashes if I have four big programs running all processing at once and even then it just slows down (on a laptop only, the tower is fine with it).

that's a great deal! definitely go for it! my macbook is the last generation and less than 120GB hard drive (i think) and i paid something like $1200 at the time i got it.
