Re: Maiden name?
I love having DHs last name.
My nephew thinks is very strange though. He is 8 years old & if I take him some place with me & have to say my name or someone says my name back to me, he gets all defensive & goes into this rant on how I am still his aunt & we used to have the same last name. Oh Kids.

Re: Maiden name?
This is why I'm not changing my name. I love DH but my last name is who I am and who I've been for 41 years. Plus, even he says, he likes my last name better................
Our kids will have his last name and I don't mind being called Mrs. M_____ but I'm still Gina S_______

Re: Maiden name?
I like my new last name. Everyone mispronounced and misspelled my maiden name and I like my married name much better!
However, at work they did not announce that my last name changed so people think I am a new employee even though I have been here for 5 years because they don't recognize my new name!

That's why I sent around an email to my group letting them know beforehand. Not that it matters, since even though I also asked everyone to update my name on any documents with my new name, there's plenty, my old name is still being used on documents getting sent out and stuff being sent in to me comes addressed that way

Re: Maiden name?
I haven't legally changed mine yet, but I use my married name socially and I miss it already. I LOVED my last name.. it was beautiful and had a ring to it. Now everyone calls me Bar-belly (Barbely). I hate it.

Re: Maiden name?
I really liked my maiden name, it was a good strong Roman name. Though surprisingly, often mispronounced Deh instead of DEE for the first syllable...weird.
I really like DH's name though. It's cool, exotic sounding, and the translation of what it means in English is so FLIPPING cool, at least to a vampire nerd like me. The only thing I don't like about it though is that I don't know how to pronounce it myself. DH pronounces it two different ways, depending on if he's speaking to a person with Greek heritage, or if he's speaking to someone with the misfortune of not being Greek . When I get frustrated and tell him to pick one and stick with it, he refuses...and his father is the same way! So finally he just told me to tell people the anglicized pronunciation, although on his own work voicemail he calls himself by the Greek pronunciation. And they sound like two completely different last names. ah-the-NAY-zee-oo vs. uh-THON-uh-SEE-oo.

I thought I was the only oddball who does this. Though, my old last name isn't greek lol. MY father and his side say it one way, me another and my other family member switches it lol. Thank god the confusion is over with.

Re: Maiden name?
I love both names so I kept them. When I told me dad I was going to do that he was so shocked and happy so even though it is long and sometimes a pain in the a$$.....I like having both.

Re: Maiden name?
I changed my name through DMV and SS, but not at work or anything so no one really uses my new name. And my friends always call me by my last name (maiden name) and I doubt that will ever change.

lol, i couldn't either!!
i love love my new last name. patterson is so easy, and i love having a super long name (danielle patterson)
but i feel like i lost my italian-ness. my last name was the only thing that assured people i was italian, bc my skin color certainly doesnt! im paler then pale, and ppl would always be like, you arent italian!! but delemo is a very difficult name for people to pronounce. (for the record, its duh-lemmo)
