Re: Maiden name?
My married name is sooo much easier for people to say and spell than my maiden name ever was, so I don't miss it.

Re: Maiden name?
I hyphenated my name so I was able to keep it sort of...It is hard to believe how many people are confused by my 'new' last name.

This.
Also, I don't have the greatest relationship with my dad so I'm happy to let go of his name.

I really like both names equally... It wasnt a hard switch to mazzilli altho im already tired of the 'are you related to lee mazzilli' question that ive now inherited!

Re: Maiden name?
Nah i dont miss it like i thought i would because honestly i got a pretty nice last name. But like i said on FB Gigante/Gigantic - hmmm kinda explains my arse to a tee! lol Even though u should pronounce it Gee-gone-tay NOT Gee-gan-tea (although we all kinda do anyways lol) My maiden is Rasulo (yes with an S) why everyone in the world loved to call me Razzzulo. HATED THAT! UGGG I was always like whats wrond with its an S do u also say Zzzzzorry???? Hello!

Re: Maiden name?
Yes & no. My maiden name was a pain in the butt to spell out over the phone to people...'D as in David, i capital B as in Boy, L, A, S as in Sam, I'
Now my last name has less letters that sound like other letters....but I know the jokes that follow 'Oh - like Happy Days?!? Richie Cunningham!' (And people think theyre unique...nope, DH has been hearing it all of his life!)

Re: Maiden name?
hmm thats hard to say. my old name seemed to intimidate people and they would ALWAYS mangle it to the point where im like 'where did you get tht from???'. DH's name is short and you cant pronounce it wrong...although people still spell it wrong.
i was just always used to having a unique name. anyone who had my last name was related to me. now i have a boring common name and if you do a search on my new name there are a gazillion matches where with my old name it was just me :)

Re: Maiden name?
I don't care about my maiden name. Both are pretty easy to pronounce. Although... when I have to give my name over the phone... no one ever knows what I'm saying when I say SANDS... they think it's Sanz or other variatios. Then I just explain... it's like the sand you find on the beach but with an s. haha!

Re: Maiden name?
I liked the zip of my first name and maiden name, it kind of slurred together when people said it (Laura Shapiro). Most people called me by my first and last name at the same time. I kind of like being higher up in the alphabet now though ;).

haha, i hear you Kerri. My new last name is Bernstein, and I almost always have to say 'like the Bears' at the end of it.
