miffed...kinda long
is this even a word? i'm trying to say less than pissed off but more than annoyed...somewhere in the middle.so i'm sure some people know that i recently turned 30 (i kept yapping about it - sorry but i was excited)....
DH really spoiled me with a great meal (ma peche...amazing!) and a beautiful gift, flowers, chocolates...he really made my birthday special.
So my actual bday fell on a wed which is when DH and I went to dinner. I was kinda toying with the idea of having a party on the following saturday but I let it slide bc it isn't really my style to throw myself a party (I totally wish it was my style). I was kinda hoping DH would have organized a little something.
so fast forward a couple of weeks and DH is now going bananas trying to plan something for BIL's (sister's husband) 40th...
I'm sitting on the couch as he texts ferociously and i feel miffed. not 100% sure why...but miffed nonetheless....

Re: miffed...kinda long
i get it... why is he showing more initiative for a BIL rather than his wife...i probably wouldnt get mad because i warned everyone not to think about throwing me a party for my 30th...
BUT if deep down you wanted one i can see why this would be annoying...

Thanks ang...you definitely summed up the situation to a T! I totally did want one deep down but I wasn't assertive enough to make it happen and I have never wanted one before. I wanted him to read my mind and throw me a damn party!
ps - sorry for jumping you in the bathroom...i was just really really really excited to meet you! now i can't wait to hang again!

Re: miffed...kinda long
Awww I'm sorry
I'd be miffed too...could you maybe bring it up to him? Maybe there's a reason why there's such a distinction...like maybe he really thought that you didn't want something?

Re: miffed...kinda long
I think you have every right to be pissed, I know that I would, but I would make it known that I am madConsidering DH almost didn't even come to my surprise 30th B-day party that my sister was throwing for me. I knew about it, but only my mom knew that I found out about it, an hour before we were suppose to leave DH turns into an @ss and says he's not going, so I had to have my sister threaten him with text messages to get him there and then the whole night he was grumpy and wanted to leave early and in spite I kept on drinking

Re: miffed...kinda long
Miffed is one of my favorite words to say when i'm angry, so it is most definitely a word
.I don't want to get your hopes up, but are you sure he's not planning something for you and not for your BIL?

I would be upset to if DH was doing that. Did you talk about it?? Try and see why he is doing it for BIL and didn't do it for you.

Re: miffed...kinda long
I don't blame you for being upset. He's showing more interest in BIL's bday planning than your's.You could always mention to him how you feel. he probably didn't even realize what he's doing.

Re: miffed...kinda long
I hear where you are coming from. Maybe your DH didn't realize you wanted a party. In general, men can be clueless unless you spell things out for them ( in my experience atleast).

Re: miffed...kinda long
I dont blame you at all. That would totally miff (
) me. My 30th is in Sept, and I am really hoping DH does something special for me. Not to toot my own horn, but I have spent a lot of the last 3 years planning stuff for other people (dh's family and my own) I am kind of hoping I paid it forward enough that he would think to do something nice for me. I totally feel you on this one!

Re: miffed...kinda long
ladies -- if there's one thing we (as in ... all of you AND myself) need to remember about men is that they are NOT mind readers.most of them are self-admittedly kind of stupid about this stuff.
(yeah some of you lucky bitchhes have freakshow husbands who go way above and beyond but blah blah blah)
they want you to tell them what you want.
and i know that ruins the surprise on a lot of things but...
on that note -- since my 30th is still a few years away i better tell DH NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW that i'm going to be wanting a party.
and i'll have to leave post its all over the place for the next 150 weeks reminding him.
(and he'll probably still forget it.)
