He has apologzed for the pic and immature actions.. however does it change anyone's opinion of him and being an Olympian?

yea it changes my opinion big time. what an idiot- he's a role model to kids, i cant believe he did that.

I mean I dont condone lying but he could have said he was smoking hookah

It's bad bc he will probably loose millions of $$ on endorsements.

For me it doesn't.. I mean I understand he is a role model for kids.. I wish he never took a pic,
however I think owning up to it and apologizing is a very good thing to do.

I agree. I dont look at him differently just more like 'ahhh dummmy WHY would you let anyone take a pic of you?' Maybe bc I went away to school and it was so common, he's a kid and unfortunately is just doing things that most kids his age experiment with.
BTW- this pic was taken in a college.

i agree with both of you.

i think this happens SO much among the famous ppl.... they do things BEFORE they get famous... things that sometimes are very commonly done among the 'regular' population lol and then when they are famous, pictures of these ppl come out doing these scandelous actions and everyone freaks lol

DITTO. he is a role model for kids, so he shouldnt have gotten caught - i really dont care that he did it, just that he let a picture be taken.

unfortunately when you are successful you are surrounded by people who want to bring you down.

He did send out an offical apology and statement.

I think celebrities, like to be normal... and he is a young college aged guy.. unfortunatley he is in the lime light and that photo surfaced.

I figured the majority of athletes are doing far more worse then that. You wouldn't question him drinking why not pot? I don't smoke up but I really don't object to it since I think its just as affective on your body as booze. I mean some weed can be like a light beer and some can be downing some 90 proof vodka.

WHY would he do this knowing that there is a picture being taken means to me he just doesn't give a flying poop about his endorsements and being a role model.

my question is - i thought you get drug tested when you are an athlete and compete? didn't he always swim and compete? in college? and never got busted? or is this picture after college and the olympics?

i dont know - if it was steriods it would bother me - a little weed - ehhh i could care less

This has always been an issue with me. All high school jocks in my school were so freaking high on weed, coke and xtc it was freaking insane. The damn cheerleaders were on K (witnessed in the bathroom) and all the 'freaky' kids were the one getting the locker searches. In college the same thing they partied royally, i mean they put me to shame and I am a party animal.

They do test but only when they are in season, off season they do whatever they want. They do have spot checks but if your not training really they dont' bother you from what I have been told from a few athletic directors that I know in sports.

as professional athletes he should be a good role model but with that you have to think that just cuz a person has a great talent doesnt mean he is perfect all around......
