MIL trouble

MIL trouble

Sort of long.
I know not everyone gets alone with the inlaws but I think I have real reason not to. A couple of times I have posted about my MIL on brides helping brides when we were planning our wedding. She gave me a hard time with my junior bridesmaids dress (her daughter and FH sister), she told us she wouldn't show to our wedding (she did last minute). At our wedding she told people that I forced DH to marry me. A family friend of Dh calleed yesterday and she started to tell me how MIL bashes me. She told the family friend that I was after DH for his money, which is funny since he has nothing, we are both still in school, and have so many loans. Said I complained about e-ring not being big enough, which I've never done. What hurts the most is she said she hopes DH doesn't knock me up because all I will do is demand more of DH than I already do. I am sort of done hearing all this. She knows I hate confrontation and I've never confronted her. DH says to ignore her because she 'isn't right', and she is just a 'b*tch'. But, I think I am at the end of my rope and I want to say something to her. He has told her a few times to stop saying stuff. She always denies it. He doesn't have a good relationship with her

Would you say something, and do you think I should bring up the things that I've heard through the grapevine?

I feel like I can't tell anyone because DH is so fed up with her, and my family hates her because of the way she acted. Its so frustrating.

Re: MIL trouble

She seems awful. If it were me I would say something. But you have to be comfortable enough to say something and then also deal with what ever repercussions follow. If her own son has said something to her and she still continues to act this way you may just want to follow your DH's advice and ignore her.

She sounds a tad on the crazy side. I think if you say something you may be giving her what she wants and it will turn into 'she was right about you all along'

What does DH say to do? If he tells you to blow her off he may be right, he does know her best.

Re: MIL trouble

There is no way that I could keep my mouth shut on this one....but I would be a little upset with DH...you said he is upset and done with her but what is he doing to keep her from saying these awful things? he needs to go with you and sit down with her and explain that you are his wife and that she needs to stop bad mouthing you or she will be out of his life all together. There is no excuse for a grown woman to behave that way. You are her sons wife and whether she likes it or not you need to be treated with respect! Your DH needs to stand up for you...b/c if you just confront her hyourself she'll jus thave more things to say about you...her son needs to tell her to back off!

Re: MIL trouble

I am glad to see that people agree with me, that she is nuts. DH has told her off many of times, she always denies saying stuff. She doesn't live in NY yet, my problems keep getting worse because she is moving back to NY this weekend!!! I hate confrontation so I have to prepare myself for a fight, but I am done with hearing all this bs from her, and maybe she will say more things about me after I confront her, at least she knows where I stand on it. Thanks, for the backup =)
