Luckily, every morning before work I text message for about 45 minutes with my best friend in the universe/MOH. It always makes it so much easier to get through the morning!
Which leads me to my NWQOTD for today ...
Who was your MOH? How did you meet? Why did you pick her? What does this person mean to you?
My MOH was my best friend Melissa. I met her on the very first day of high school (two school districts combined in my high school so I had never met her before). I had almost the exact same schedule as her, so I saw her in first, second and third period and knew I wanted to be her friend. I approached her during gym (third period) and told her I liked her pants, and the rest is history! We have been inseparable ever since!
I love Melissa because she is so funny and smart. She always has the exact right thing to say and makes me laugh so much and so often. But she's also incredibly loyal and loving. We've never really had a fight - just a few misunderstandings over the past 13 years - and we just understand each other and accept each other. She is the best friend I have ever had and there was never any question that she would be my MOH - and she did such an incredible job, between tiny little details for my shower and bachelorette party, to the most hilarious and touching MOH toast I have ever heard (she used excerpts of AIM conversations that we had from when I met DH and realized I was going to marry him - a month and a half into our relationship). She's the best and I love her!!!

Re: MONDAY 1/11 NWQOTD!!!!
My MOH was my only sister. Growing up I just knew that if I was going to get married she was going to be my MOH! She means everything to me!
When I told her I was getting married and she was the MOH she was SO freaking happy bc she really thought I was going to pick my friend over her! (she's nuts, she doesnt realize she is also my best friend). She was the most amazing MOH.. seriously.

I had 2 maids of honor - both of my sisters. There is no way I would be able to pick just one of them. I couldn't imagine anyone else standing besides me when I got married.
Even though I'm not as close to my older as I am to my younger sister, they both mean the world to me.

My MOH was my sister. I always knew she would be my MOH if I ever got married. Growing up my sister and I got along but we were never really close. She is younger than I am so in our formative years I never wanted my little sister hanging around with me and my friends. Once we both reached our twenties we started to get a lot closer. We have also been through a lot with our family and by going through all of those tramatic circumstances we became each others support and best friend. I couldn't imagine getting married and not having her stand there with me.

my MOH was my best friend! We met at work! we first became close, because she actually went to HS with DH so i would go to her to get the goods on him! lol
we clicked and became super best friends! We could talk for HOURS and knew everything about each other inside and out! always there for each other when we needed eachother so thats why i picked her.
Althooooooooooo we did have some issues with her being a kinda crappy MOH! she was going thru alot! got prego by a DB, got married to the DB and was extremely unhappy with her life for a long time..so we had some issues, but they all worked out in the end! I had my SIL as a back up MOH! lol
She means the world to me! and i know we are going to bff's for LIFE!! lol

My MOH was my sister, Melissa. She is my best friend, my rock, my entire world. She is 5 and a half years older than me and she has always been like a mother figure to me. When we were growing up we had some tough times and my sister was always there to take care of me. I couldn't ask for a better sister. I am just tearing up thinking about how much she means to me. I can honestly say that my sister is my favorite person in the entire world and I feel so lucky to have someone like her in my life. There really was no question who was going to be my MOH. No one would have filled her shoes any better.

My MOH was my cousin Michelle. She is my only female cousin, there is an over flow of boys in my family. We were born 5 months apart. We grew up together, and she is like my sister. I am an only child & she has two brothers. We grew up like sisters, we are so close. I picked her b/c I didn't even have to think about it, knew it was going to be her. She is the one I call when I need someone to be honest, she will tell you what you need to hear in a sweet way that gives you the kick in the a$$ you need without being hurtful. She was awesome at her duties. I can't wait until she gets married so I can re-pay the favor. We moved to DC in the summer & she is in NJ I miss her a ton, but she is looking at grad schools down here so she can be closer.

I was supposed to have two MOHS. My younger sister and my older sister. My older sister found out she was pregnant and her due date was a week before my wedding - and she lives in Charlotte, NC - so I only had my younger sister there. They both mean the world to me and even though I would have loved to have them both there, it meant a lot that my younger sister kind of stepped up and filled the spot of them both.

Re: MONDAY 1/11 NWQOTD!!!!
My MOH was my best friend Anna -- we met in French class Freshman year of college and have now known each other a little over 13 years. She lives in Boston but we talk almost every day online. The summer before junior year of college, we went to France together to study abroad and lived together with a family there -- that's where DH and I went on our HM.
I have two best friends, and the other is a guy, so he was also in the bridal party (but really a groomsman).
The day we got engaged, I called a bunch of people (duh) but my first two calls after family were Anna and Rob and I asked them immediately that day if they would be in the wedding. They were thrilled. It was a pain with them in Boston, but we made it work.
Speaking of which... Thursday marks the 1-year engagement anniversary for us.

Re: MONDAY 1/11 NWQOTD!!!!
My MOH was an exchange student from Bulgaria named Petya who lived with us back in 1996 for her Senior Year of High School (my freshmen year). It was her third year in the states going to a little school called the Hewlett school. The school had boarding for boys but they put girls up with families. Petya's first family was a lady who worked at the school and retired. Her second family was a woman who was usually alone and wasn't the best environment for a teenage girl. So for her third year my friend (who was another BM) went to the school, and her mom asked my mom if we would be interested in hosting her. My parents met her first to make sure she had a sense of humor. She lived with us her entire Senior year and we fell into the roll of sisters.
At the end of her Senior year she went home to Bulgaria. I was so sad. But that fall we picked her up at the airport, took her shopping at BBB and K-Mart for college stuff and then drove her and moved her in to Lafayette College like any other family would with their child. When Lafayette had vacations that were to short to go to Bulgaria she came home to our house. I would visit her at school. In my Senior year I chose to go to Lafayette and she was super excited. We overlapped one year there. We both had our own lives, work and friends but we made sure to have one meal together every week. She wanted me to join her sorority but I joined a different one instead, but it didn't matter, we were sisters already.
After I graduated she was living in NY and I was in DC. We would visit each other. But then, just as I moved back to LI she decided to move to Paris with her company. She met a french boy, loves paris and is closer to her real family, so I don't think she is coming back.
I love her like a sister but in hindsight she shouldn't have been my MOH. She wasn't really there to help me at all and she didn't even come back to the states until the day before the Rehearsal dinner. She did come in for my shower but she planned it for the weekend of her college reunion to kill to birds with one stone, making the whole thing fall on my mom.

My MOHs were my two sisters. I picked them because they're my sisters. If I didn't have sisters, I would have picked a friend or two, but since I have good relationships with my sisters it was never a question.

My MOH was my older cousin. (she is 1 yr older than me) After we got engaged, she was the 3rd call I made (after my parents of course). She is THE BEST and I have no regrets at all about my decision. She was the greatest and never complained and always had wonderful things to say or ideas to help me with. She planned my whole shower and my b-party.
