Re: Monday 2/1 NW QOTD
We both lived at home before so everything was an adjustment to us.
The cleaning and laundry has been a bit of a pain in my butt, but I'm getting on a schedule now which is good.
I'd say the biggest adjustment for me is having someone make a mess of something I just cleaned!
I absolutely love having our own place and living with the man of my dreams.

Re: Monday 2/1 NW QOTD
Since DH and I lived together for almost 2 years before our wedding date, there haven't been many adjustments....
BUT
Probably the weirdest for me is the merging of 'our money'. Like part of my paycheck will pay his credit card bill, or his money will pay for my cell phone bill.
It was definitely an adjustment-I've been independent for so many years, that at 30/31 it's definitely a change.
But it's a good change

Since we lived together for 7 months before we got married, afterwards things really didn’t change all that much. I still haven’t even changed my name yet!
I guess the biggest adjustment is actually referring to him as my husband… it still sounds so weird! And even weirder when he calls me his wife!

No adjustments at all to be honest...we lived together for almost 3 years...our money was pooled already so it hasnt been too drastic at all!

we lived together before we were married so that adjustment we went thru before the wedding!
i think our biggest adjustment will be when we move into our house...dealing and adjusting with the fact that we will no longer have money to do ANYTHING! lol

Re: Monday 2/1 NW QOTD
there have been alot of adjustments to our lifestyle not necessarily our marriage. but the fact that we are facing them through our marriage... is enough to say they are adjustements. Having a new job, a new puppy and now a new house, have all been adjustments and tests of our marriage and so far we are doing great!

OK, great. Because I was going to answer this and be like, 'Not to sound like an @sshole, but nothing much changed since we lived together almost a year and a half before we got married.' Glad to see other people feel the same.
People keep asking me how married life is, and I usually say, 'It's life - it was this way before we got married, too!' I'm thrilled that we're married, don't get me wrong, but I can't think of one thing that has changed, other than my name!

The biggest adjustment for me has been living with someone. I lived alone for 17 years - it's hard getting used to having someone there all the time.

Nothing has really changed, we were already living together in our house, so we were adjusted to that already. It has actually been less stressful because we don't have the stress of planning the wedding and were not fighting about money for the wedding

Re: Monday 2/1 NW QOTD
Oh, boy... my entire life changed. We never lived together before. I moved to another state where I didn't know anyone but DH and his friends. I quit my job that I loved and left my whole family and familiar life 500 miles away.
So everything has changed.
But it's a very good thing.

I say the exact same thing to people!!
DH and I have lived together for the past three years so getting married didn't make anything different as far as that goes. I'd say the only adjustment was calling him my husband and changing my name. I still mess up when I sign things!

Re: Monday 2/1 NW QOTD
Since we lived together for 4 years before we got married...not too much has changed. The main thing was that we now combine finances and its great because I no longer have to worry about bills at all...DH pays them all!
The other huge adjustment doesn't necessarily have to do with being married, but he was laid off the day we got back from our honeymoon, so that has been really tough.

Re: Monday 2/1 NW QOTD
We lived at home before being married, so that was an adjustment, but only in the sense that now we live together. Shockingly, we've adjusted really well to it, it felt really natural to live together. I know DH doesn't like the idea that my name is on his bank accounts now, but he can deal LOL. I've just been adjusting to having to clean, because I hate it, but the cooking part is easy because it's a hobby of mine. I'm surprised at how easy it's been for us, considering that we both lived at home, and DH is definitely a coddled mama's boy so he had to get used to being held accountable for some of his care really quick lol.

DH and I have been living together for close to 4 years before we got married so nothing has changed. My only adjustment is getting used to my married name. I often catch myself using my maiden name...its out of habit.

The biggest adjustment for me has been getting use to my new name. I hypenated and it is way too easy to forget the new addition.

We lived together for 6 years before getting married and since we've lived together we've pooled out money so no adjustment there. I guess the biggest thing is saying husband and wife and me using my new last name. DH actually almost called me his girlfriend the other day.

Am I really the only NW who didn't live with my husband before we got married?
Wow.
ETA: Ok, me and Gina! And Val!
I don't feel as shocked anymore... lol

It's so funny because people can't believe we didn't live together before - especially because I was 41 and he was 42 when we got married! We did lots of sleepovers but neither one of us wanted to move twice and we knew we wanted a house.
We closed on our house 10/6 - got possession on 10/10 and then ripped up carpets, painted, etc. It just turned out that we didn't move in until AFTER the HM. If we had found a house earlier, we would have, but we didn't.
