My hunnie and I didn't move in together until after the wedding. I feel like all we do now is fight over the dumbest things. Did any of you ladies go throught the same thing? If you did, how long did it last?

Re: Moved in after the wedding
We lived together before the wedding but went through the same period of adjustment. It lasted a few months. I think all people go through that. It is a huge adjustment to move in with another person.

Re: Moved in after the wedding
It takes about 3 months to get used to living with someone. DH and I lived together before we got married but the first 3 months were the absolute hardest. We fought over stupid things like the dishes and me leaving my shoes in the middle of the floor...it just takes a little time to work out all the kinks but I'm sure everything will start to settle around 4 months, and by 6 months, you wont remember ever living without him.

Re: Moved in after the wedding
It's perfectly normal. DH and I didn't live together before the wedding. We just lived together on the weekends.
It's definately a period of adjustment. It's almost 3 months now since the wedding and things are finally starting to get back to normal.
We're also 'older' and have both lived on our own for many years, and were both definately set in our ways!

Um - oh yeah! We had big ones over little stuff. We're fine now. Though it still makes him crazy when I leave the toaster plugged in ('you're gonna burn the house down!' he tells me) and it still makes me crazy that he saves everything

I agree that it will take about 3 months before you adjust. We both lived w/ our parents before the wedding so it was a big change for us, and we'd fight about stupid things like dishes, cleaning, (cuz I was the only one who every did it!), making the bed, etc.
Things are alot better now, I realized I was too picky sometimes and he realized he needed to do his share too.

OMG, thanks guys so much. I was begining to think that maybe we made a mistake. He even said that to me last night. At least I know that alot of people went through the same thing and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

You are normal! For us it took about 6 months to fully get used to living together.

Re: Moved in after the wedding
We didn't fight -- thought there was definitely some surprises. (I tried to tell my husband what I was a total slob, but he didn't believe me. Sigh)
I think that a lot changes right after you get married and maybe you guys weren't on the same page on some issues (how you'll manage money who will do house work and when). Now is the time to talk it all through.
Maybe you should think about what you fight and have a conversation about the issues when everything is calm.

Re: Moved in after the wedding
My DH and I moved in two months prior to the wedding. We really didnt fight over anything. We are both easy going individuals so not many things bother us.

Re: Moved in after the wedding
I cant say we really fought but it did take 3-6 months of living together to get adjusted. No matter when you move in together it takes some adjustment time. We just tend to put more pressure on ourselves to be perfectly happy from day one when we wait for marriage.
Give it some time and it will be fine!

It took time for me to understand why he does things the way he does. After a while you don't think about it anymore but yes, it's normal.

We moved in after the wedding, it definately gets better as time goes on. Dont worry about it though. Think about if you moved in with one of your friends, it would be the same thing. You have to get used to each other. Thats all.....

Re: Moved in after the wedding
I was ready to call it quits after the first month. All we did was fight and it was over stupid things like how high to hang a picture. I kept asking myself what the hell did I do? But, it got better as it went along and now, everything is really good! Hang in there! It's all worth it in the end

DH and I didn't LTBM and we didn't go through that adjustment period that everyone talks about. Somehow we just clicked really well. But, apparently, it's quite normal (and we are the freaks ) so I wouldn't worry.

Re: Moved in after the wedding
We moved in together into my tiny studio apartment with THREE cats - his one cat and my two cats and they did not get along at all. I agree - it really took about 3 months for us to get used to living together. We figured if we could survive living in that studio with the cats, we could get through anything!

Re: Moved in after the wedding
Hang in there. I have been married for a year and half. I have never lived with anyone before this and it was a little tough. Both of you are use to the way you do things then you get together and it changes. You have to be flexible. I had it hard because my husband also got laid off from work 4 months after we got married. it was no picnic in my house.
