Movie Recommendations Thread

Original post by Espo22

What movies have you seen recently that you liked and would recommend. DH and I watch movies all the time so always looking for something new.

Movies we saw recently and what I thought

THe curious case of Benjamin Button-LOVED IT!!! its a long movie so keep that in mind, but great touching story

Taken-I loved this movie, action throughout the whole movie, liam neeson is awesome in this movie

Gran Torino-I liked it alot, some ppl think it can be a bit slow at times but kept me interested. Some very touching moments

Slumdog Millionaire-this movie was awesome, had everything you could want in a movie, action, love, tragedy and so on, dont want to give things away.

My best friends girl-it was funny, and had its cute moments

bride wars-it was a cute movie, wouldnt say oh wow great but if you just planned a weddding then there will be parts you like.

I REALLY want to see 'he's just not that into you' i had read the book and its so true and histerical what they say. Glad they made a movie about it

recent movies we saw and really liked were:

benjamin button
the wrestler - much better than i expected!
Milk - yes, i cried

i know there are more, i just can't think of them right now. these stand out.

DH loved the wrestler and hey he won the golden globe and is up for an oscar, ive heard great things about it.

Was milk good, good to know. DH also DL'ed this movie, he wants to see it later this week. Havent heard too much about it. Sean Penn is always great though. He won the SAG award last night for best actor

i think sean penn did a much better job than mickey rourke, but i think rourke will get the oscar, especially since sean penn won a couple of years ago. even DH liked Milk, it's a little over 2 hours, but does not feel like it at all. the wrestler felt longer.

i really want to see the reader and revolutionary road. i heart kate.

Yeah i wonder who will win. Mickey won the golden globe but Sean won the SAG. I think some ppl like the whole underdog part so I do think Mickey has a good chance of winning the Oscar.

Yeah i want to see Revolutionary Road too, dh is a bit hesitant bc for some reason he doesnt like Kate lol

I am not a movie buff but want to see 'He's not that into it' I think all girls should read it and live by it.

When I read it I dumped my ex almost immediately (although he did come crawling back and after another 1.5 years we were finally done). I think the book is so true and I want all my single friends with dating issues to read it.

we do something similar, he dl's the movies and then transfers it to his iphone, he has a wire that connects his iphone to the tv and we watch the movies on the tv. He dl's studio copies, mostly copies that are given out for nomination consideration. We need to get a wire though from his mac to the tv, it will be even better this way bc he wont have to put it on his iphone. The bestbuy we went to in LI didnt have any apple stuff, the one on northern blvd does so we'll try there.

DH and I havent gone to the movies together in over a year The last thing we saw in theaters was 'The Golden Compass'

He buys everything bootleg from some guy he works with, so we've seen a lot. I am waiting for him to get 'Benjamin Button' and 'Australia' and a few others I've been dying to see!

We saw 'Seven Pounds' and it was very good - DH actually cried like a baby several times throughout! I was pretty floored b/c he doesnt cry at ANY movies! Not sure why this one hit him so hard, but it did.

He has 'Gran Torino' also but I haven't watched that one yet.

As far as movies that aren't that new, but that we own... I recently watched 'Rendition' and 'Untraceable.' Both were really good but 2 totally different types of movies! 'Untraceable' is one of the few Diane Lane movies where she keeps her clothes on

yeah dh was looking online before to hook up the mac to the tv, this way he wont have to dl it after onto his phone and then use the cable from his phone to tv.

Yeah thats the same ones, it says in the beginning for nomination consideration and then like paramount studios copy for example

yeah its great bc even when we go to the movies we wont go like every week and this way we get to see all the new movies that come out
