Moving to Hawaii!

Moving to Hawaii!

I am 99% sure DH and I are moving to Hawaii. He is an officer and is being assigned to a ship out of Honolulu. We may be moving as early as this fall.

We honestly didn't expect this because we were told he'd be going out on a ship out of Norfolk, VA and not for a couple of years. I know I should be excited about moving to Hawaii, but it is so far away from our family and friends. And I just got a promotion and may have to find a new job if they can't transfer me.

Worst of all, I'll be seeing him a lot less than if he were stationed out of Norfolk. This ship goes all over the Pacific. He is not even in the Navy but I am suddenly feeling like a Navy wife.

Wow, that is a lot to take in. When do you find out for sure?

On the positive side HI is beautiful and awesome weather, friendly people. I'm sure your friends and family won't mind that becoming a vacation spot. CA is only 4 hours away, do you have any friends or family there?

As hard as I would imagine that would be for me because I would miss my family and friends, I think it's an awesome opportunity and an amazing memory for you and your DH to have and share with your children.

Congrats!

Moving that far is really hard. Just remember that it isn't forever. And who knows, maybe you'll love it. Oahu is so nice. And the people there are awesome. Now you'll have friends and family visiting you all the time because they can stay at your place. Just remember to get a place with a guest room.

Yes, a guest room is a must! I hope we'll get lots of visitors, since I'll be by myself a lot!

Oh - and get this - DH and I had booked a two week 'second honeymoon' in November to sort of celebrate our one year anniversary. The trip is to.... Hawaii! I have a friend getting married on Maui. Now it turns out we may be moving or house hunting then. Funny how life turns out.
