MrsQ-in2007- quick question

Yesi is really Jessie??

As in I wish I had Jesse's Girl and uncle Jesse ?

Or is the J silent like in San Juan making you Essie like the nail polish.

I can't go through my weekend with this confusion ? All this time I might have been worshipping and chanting the wrong name

My name is Catherine but it is pronounced as Tilde

I think it's Yesi because her name is Yesenia.

ETA: Oops, I'm totally wrong. Just went back and read her other post.

I'm confused now too

Yesenia in spanish is usually pronounced Jesenia. So I guess she pronounces it Jessie.

i have like 4 family members who say Jankees, it drives me crazy!!

the best though is my old boss, she used to pronounce my maide name Re-Jes instead of Reyes. she was the only person who ever pronounced my name that way - i've never heard Reyes pronounced Re-Jes before. Drove me NUTS!!!

O HOW I WISH Yesi/Jessie would reply to this with 'Yes, Si!'

My name is Colette, but sometimes people call me coletti, sometimes I get Cloret, and even Collect.

I always thought it was pronouced the way its spelled too!

People always call me weird things like Milano, Milan, Milayna, Melania...and so on lol. So im used to people getting my name wrong.

OMG, I'm DYING over here! Too bad I was busy at work and didn't see this sooner..

Ok, so yes, Yesi is said like 'Jessie' (or as in uncle jesse from full house)

Like the other ladies said, the letter Y in spanish is pronounced more like a J so everyone calls me 'Jessie'.

Yesenia - same thing about the Y sounding like a J, but for some reason when I introduce myself to a non-spanish speaker, I tend to say Yesenia (like a regular english sounding Y) instead of 'Jesenia' - I guess it kinda sounds softer so it's easier to understand... And then once they hear my full name, most people just call me Yesi (aka 'Jesi') anyway

Lord, you crack me up!!!!!!!!

'Hi my name is Essie'

And dude, I say San Juan like the J in Jose. So it sounds like an H. Then that would make me 'Hessie'

But yeah, its uncle jesse to you

this has me cracking up!!! now at least I can call you Yesi with a J at the GTG!! I'm sure I called you Yesi w/ a Y at that GTG last year! sorry!

and I'm glad you don't pronounce it like San Juan b/c I don't think I could call you 'Hessie' with a straight face!

Nope, I will say it either way (sounding like Yesenia or Jesenia). Like I mentioned above, for people that don't speak spanish, Yesenia for some reason is easier to say or understand when I say it.

But I have to say that only 'J'esi works for me.

And I agree, this thread is funny... Where is Cat? I would love to know if she read this before the weekend since she said she had to know
