My album- Im really mad

Well on my contract for my album it says 36 8x10 or upgrade for addt'l 195.00 for 50 pics. well I cant get it under the 78 I have. Unfortunately the family is huge and I cant cut out anymore without leaving out family members- so for 50 it will cost me 195.00 extra AND 18.95 each for the other 28. so my album is going to cost me trying to add fast what around 700 and change?? photo is very expensive what WAS 4700 at signing adding this and that and now with this AND the cost of extra TY's photo/video is costing me well over 6k!!!!!!!
Anyone else go through this added expense?

That seems like a lot of money!!! We had originally picked out extras but instead of spending the money for extra pictures, we saved the money. I made all my own albums anyway I loved the photographers work but to me it was not worth it. JMO.

I spend a fortune too....Same reasons....

And IMO I am glad I did...

Im crafty but I wouldnt know the first thing on how to make a 'professional' album. I make those no sew fabric albums all the time but for a wedding pro pics I'm not sure- I'd prob spend more money on the photo paper and messing up making copies, etc.
How did you do it? do you have pics? maybe if I see it I can make it. Thanks

Did you already purchase the 'basic album' and just have to pay for the upgrade?

The albums they are working with may have an 'oversized charge'... where if it goes past so many pages (maybe 50)... it costs a lot more money to make the book because it is larger.

yes I purchased the basic album of 36 pictures, I dont know how many pages that is. and then I have to pay for the upgrade and thats whats 700 and change- I think its too much. by the way I love love your album- I think I should go and invest in the photoshop.

I would almost demand a refund and tell them to forget the album and do it yourself.

They should have listed the prices for what the album upgrade would have cost on your original contract. If they didn't do this... I really don't think they should charge you extra (at least not as much as they are).

Extra pages in a professional album don't cost THAT much. In fact most of the cost of an album goes into the cover and any asthetic looking upgrades you get on the album.

Can you add 'special effects' to your album and put multiple pics on one page? Some of the less important photograpghs can share a page.

We wanted pics of each member of our bridal party with spouses (6), so we paid $30 to have all the photos put on one page. We did the same with the three sets of parents.

We only got 36 pics in our album, this saved us 7 pages off the total and a lot of money.

Definitely see if he can put more photos on one page...that should be cheaper than adding more pages. Plus you probaby dont want huge full page photos of each of your relatives, etc..

Im not sure what kind of album you are getting so it obviously makes a huge difference ( If you know what kind of album it is, you can get a sense of his costs by looking online. ), but $19 a page seems pretty reasonable to me. Im sure the page, the extra binding and photo has to got be $10-15 at cost even for a simple album...and that doesnt include the time and effort he needs to charge for. It definitely adds up but it doesnt sound like he is trying to cheat you.

Hi, no just the photo is 18.95 , I dont know how much the 'page' will cost me, I do know that if I add 14 pictures to my 36 the cost is 195.00 . I am going to talk to them tomorrow to see what are my options, thank you all for great suggestions!!!

geesh that seems like alot to me - we had 150 photos in our album included
