Which family were you, and which is your DH's? My family is the quiet waspy family (germans-DH calls us 'as dry as toast'), and DH's is the greek (really polish) family.
Hungry? 'I just ate, no thanks' ok, I'll make you something
you're WHAT? vegetarian? OK, I'll make lamb (if polish- kilbasa)
they were sooooo upset I wasn't polish, initially... the whole movie was accurate

ohmigod... that's too funny.
yeah, I'm always amazed how sausages get thrown into everything with DH's family. His family is so loud, doesn't really speak english (even though they can), and every store they go to is polish... polish bank, grocery store, travel agency...... and the ethnic pride is omnipresent...
you give me a word, and I'll tell you how it's derived from greek!
My family is soooo quiet.... DH is bored to tears at our get togethers... it really is like the movies... sipping wine on the couch.
And early in our relationship, I DID bring a bundt cake, and they looked at it funny

I LOOOOVE that movie!!! DH & I started laughing when we hung out with his Dad after watching it...because....his Dad is ALWAYS throwing out useless and not so useless facts and word origins....his Dad even said, 'it's from the Latin word...' and we both burst out laughing...his Dad was not amused...hahahaha...but we sure were!

DH and I both come from Italian families, but DH's is definitely the greek side. DH has a very large family that is loud and everloving. My family is very quiet and more reserved. We also have trouble showing emotion.
