my daughter just called to inform me....

Havent been...how old is she?

I went to Cancun when I was 19 and backpacked all over Europe when I was 20.....and my sister went to the Bahamas when she was 20....so I think its ok. I mean something can happen anywhere but as long as you are smart you should be ok. It is always good to stick with friends, never leave by yourself or go home with someone and watch your drink at all times!

she is 20 she works and goes to college, she is very free spirited, but she has never left the country, I knew this was coming her first big trip out of the USA but I have to admit I am WORRIED SICK.

When I think back...I did some pretty silly things while I was backpacking and stayed in hostels with people I didnt know, etc, got into cars with people to go to their bed and breakfasts, etc, I could go on forever. Wow, I am glad I survived that. I guess I was very trusting.

jenna - did u go with my cousin??? He backpacked through europe with all of his friends&has some CRAZY(but amazing!) stories..just curious???

if she is going with friends i'm sure they will all be together the entire time. does she already have it planned??? maybe encourage her to do an all-inclusive that way they can all stay on the resort? Bermuda is apparently gorgous & one of the nicer islands..but to me it's not smart to go into the local towns on ANY carribean island...doing an all-inclusive may take that idea away ya know?

YES, They are in the planning process now, she said her friend Jenn has a friend there they will be staying with, do you think she would be upset if I asked to talk with this person. why could'nt she just go to Italy and look up her family roots.

so they are staying in the local city & not on a resort??? if so i would just look into the actual town that they're in & make sure it's safe there are some BEAUTIFUL parts of the islands and then the not so beautiful..if this 'friend' is in a nice area maybe u don't have anything to worry about after all just do some research before u start making urself a wreck.. ..and keep us updated!
