My Dh...an arse or a genious

A couple, who we really are very close with, had a baby yesterday. I have visited in them in the hospital for the last two days, however, I have yet to touch or hold the baby.. Dh says it is because of the chemical preg. last week...I am looking deep into it and thing...'Gee, maybe I am not ready' what do you read into it?

It could be a number of reasons. Are the parents protective, keeping the baby to themselves, or have they offered the child to you and you'ver refused? Has the baby been awake, or sleeping? It may not have seemed like the right time to touch or hold the baby.

I've always been hesitant to reach out and touch someone elses baby, yet others don't hesitate to pinch a cheek, pick the baby up, etc.

If you're reacting different than you normally have in the past he may be right about a connection but if you are feeling a sense of loss and have withdrawn a bit I don't see that as being unusual.
