My DH's bad etiquette

My DH's bad etiquette

My husbands friends have terrible manners- they constantly come over (and just show up) and eat our food, and expect me to feed them.

Along with that, every time we have a party, they show up empty-handed. I mean I dont expect you to bring an 8-course dinner, but at least cookies or a bottle of coke or something.

So Sunday we are having a superbowl party, and dh apparently has had enough of his friends. He assigned them things to bring

I kind of think he's as bad as them right now

He could have invited them over and then had not had any munchies or drinks available.

Hey, everyone's got to understand that putting out a lot of food and drinks is not cheap. Especially if you've got moochers.

wow how do you handle that all the time lol, i give you credit for that.

I dont mind feeding ppl or having ppl over but the just showing up can be hard. ANd not even in a bad way either but for example just 2 days ago had ppl just show up. Now i never mind that but i was in the middle of cooking when they showed up. LUCKILY by some miracle i bought the family pack chicken cutlets which ive NEVER done, but i had went to the supermarket and the regular one i buy they didnt really have and was too small and said why not. SO i had enough chicken but i was making it with a side of pasta and i didnt buy any since i had a little more than half a box at home and was more than perfect for DH and I. Everybody said they wanted some too so i was stuck sitting there thinking how am i gonna do this, i dont have enough pasta, i cant run out to the supermarket since i was in the middle of cooking. I was cooking in a small pan since it was just for DH and I, but ended up having to cook for 4 more ppl, and took long to make that much chicken, felt bad too since dh was starving and i told him it wouldnt be long but ended up being long since i needed to prepare more chicken now. Then i also feel bad that i dont have enough to give to ppl.

I ended up getting a bit upset bc if i had known i couldve gotten more at least since i had just come back from the supermarket.

Its about time your dh told ppl to bring things. It gets expensive too always hosting and feeding ppl, let them contribute.

Oh wow. I've never, EVER showed up at a gathering without bringing something.

When DH and I first started dated he invited me to a friends party and i brought brownies... he kept saying, no, no it's ok, i'm bringing beer you don't have to bring anything. I can't show up empty handed -- EVER

yea I dont go anywhere without anything either. In every other way, these friends are the nicest people and we have so much fun- so I feel like I am giving a bad impression of them. I think they are all clueless either that or they think that I have it under control lol

I would be mortified to show up with out a bottle of wine, beer, dessert. SOMETHING.... Good for DH! Let the moochers bring something hahaha

OMG! I never show up empty handed...I mean maybe like once and I felt awful but even when the person says not to bring anything, I still aways do!

I am glad you DH assigned them to bring things! Its only fair!

She aint lying..she brings monkey bread

That's insane. I dont know how you deal w/ that each week. Its expensive enough to just feed 2 people. Hopefully they get the point now, if not, DH needs to say something.

i agree i would never show up empty handed not even to my parents house...i always bring something....wine, beer, and a dessert.

Re: My DH's bad etiquette

My friends and I have a rule..we all have to contribute things to get togethers. We're all on budgets for one reason or another, so everyone chips in. Like someone will bring dessert or a side or drinks. ALWAYS.

Dh's friends are not like that and it kinda annoys me. He always brings something..but they don't really reciprocate.
