Re: my fellow cat owners....
To worm your cat is to give it meds to get rid of worms in its stomach and intestines. Usually outdoor cats get worms, but if I remember correctly, you have a kitten. It's possible for the kitten to have been infected by its mother or by its litter mates. No big deal, you can get OTC meds from Hartz that will kill the worms and your kitty can poop them out. Or if you can take the kitty to the vet, just bring in a sample of the poop.

Re: my fellow cat owners....
Cats can get worms from eating a flea. They don't consciously eat them - they clean themselves, and accidentally swallow it. Even if you dont have fleas, all it takes is one lone flea to cause worms. So they just have to go and get dewormed. My vet gives a shot for it now, b/c its so traumatic for cats to have to take pills.

basically what prompted that question was b/c someone posted a thread on the pets board saying that they saw their cat scooting their butt across the carpet and i had JUST seen Miller do that not too long ago... but he only did it once and i had never seen him do it
so i figured before i freaked out and rushed him to the vet, i would look it up online... which they said that it could be a million other things, not just worms
but then i was curious as to if my cat can get worms since he is a STRICT indoor cat

so do you think i should just monitor the butt scooting situation? or just give him OTC meds?
he only did the butt scoot that one time (which was like 2 weeks ago) and hasnt done it since

If they have worms, you'll see them in the poop. They look like little moving grains of white rice. Sometimes my cats scoot along the floor when they have a little poopie stuck! OR sometimes if they're bad girls and the eat something they shouldn't have (a piece of fake plant, a piece of ribbon)they try and help it out this way. Lovely!

Re: my fellow cat owners....
The worms dry up super quick, so see if you can actually watch him poop, and then you'll know for sure if he has them b/c they'll be VERY visible.

ok... i will take note of his poop the next time i scoop the litter box.... i figured there could be a million other reasons he was scooting his butt across he floor

Re: my fellow cat owners....
scooting butt on floor???
our cat did this when constipated and stuff still on her butt - - to get it off.
