My first newlywed vent....

On our HM DH was saying he felt the need to 'build' something....so he decided to build a computer.....well...apparently yesterday morning before he went to work, he bought all the aprts...$400 worth. I agreed, I was just not made aware that he was going to do it as soon as we got home.....and needless to say, I'm feeling a little upset..mad...that it was not made clear since we are trying to save for a house. I'm glad he'll have something to do...I just was taken aback at the immediacy of it.

I'm fine now...just needed to vent....

Re: My first newlywed vent....

Ah...the joys of marriage!! LOL!!!

DH and I just had a little spat yesterday too...we're also trying to save for a house...and he wanted to spend all this money painting our 2x4 apartment...to me it's not worth the time and money...and at first, he didn't see my point...but now he does... .

Re: My first newlywed vent....

When I first got married my husband would come home everyday from home depot with all this stuff/equipment that I knew he would never use. Sure enough he has since returned half if not more of everything.

After a few spats, we now have a rule that if we are spending more than $300 on a specific item, we must tell eachother first. It seems to be working well so far.

Re: My first newlywed vent....

I understand that immediacy point...

on our way back from our mini-moon DH who had been wishy washy about getting a dog...wanted one right away!!!

we got one 6 days after we were married!!!LOL...then left the poor guy for 3 weeks when we went on our HM...I was scared that he wouldn't remember us and would want to stay with my sister...but he jumped up when he heard our voices and went straight for our car...it was so cute...(sorry I got lost in a tangent)

We have a similar rule in place except that our limit is only $100. It works well for us too!
