My Great Grandmother passed away!

My Great Grandmother passed away last night. She was a month and a half shy of 103. She lived a very long and happy life, so its not as sad as many deaths, but its still sad to see such a wonderful and loving woman go. At her 100th Birthday she was in amazing shape. By my shower she was struggling a lot. She was at my wedding and walked down the aisle with my grand-father (her son-in-law), which was truly amazing. I was also the first of her Great Grandchildren to get married so that was pretty cool to have her there. This winter she has been ill and staying with her oldest son and his wife instead of in her home in Brooklyn.

Now she can join my grandmother (her daughter) in heaven.

With the oldest of her Great Grandchildren, she has about 17 more but all under the age of 15, only the older kids got to come to this because it was late.

I am so sorry! It is wonderful that you were able to have her with you to celebrate your wedding day.

Oh Michelle I'm so sorry for your loss! But how wonderful that she not only lived to see (and past) her 100th birthday but was in such great health.

Im so sorry Michelle. On the flip side - i am so jealous that you had grandparents at your wedding- both of Thomas' died in WWII & my last grandparent died in 1998, so I was really missing all of them on our wedding day. I am glad she had a full life & God Bless her to 103 - that's amazing! Like you said at least now she's in peace w/ her daughter.

Yeah when I started college I had four grandparents and a great grandparent. All 4 came to see my college campus. It was pretty amazing. By the wedding I just had one grandfather (86) and my great grandmother (102), but its still pretty incredible. Plus my grandmother's 3 siblings were there (83, 74, & 70) and my great grandmother's youngest sister (97).
