The other thing about granite is that you can cut on it, put scaling hot pots on it and nothing will happen to it. HOwever, it you cut on it, you'll dull the heck out of your knives!

I have friends who put marble or limestone in their kithcens, and are regretting it now, because marble is so delicate, and I think with limestone you have to treat it with something...and you have to be really careful with certain types of spills.

Shamma,
I mentioned that on another thread. Maybe when the rain lets up I'll host a GTG. I'm always away whenever there's one planned.

I'm missing the next couple of ones (the NYC one and the Okey Dokeys one) because I'll be in England.
The grass in the back hasn't fully come in yet, but it might be fun and I can FINALLY meet everyone.

what do you use to clean the granite?
I've been using Windex, but I want something that keeps them shiny and polished looking...

I also use Windex...

, if you find something better, just let me know, sometimes I see streaks with the Windex, but that's all I can think of using.

I have this other stuff too, called Countertop Magic, that I use after the Windex. Makes the granite REALLY shiny, but I'd like to find something that gets the grime off AND ends up with a polished finish.

Susan: You have a gorgeous house. You did an excellent job decorating.

BTW, that is so nice of the you to consider hosting a GTG at your home. That would definitely be something to look forward to.
