My Neighbors

So you guys know I moved into a new neigbhorhood and feel a little bit out of my element. I have gotten to know my two next door neighbors and have become hi and bye friendly with the older couple next door (old enough to be my parents).

I have been paying $6 to take a taxi to the LIRR every morning. And I saw them all last week leaving around the same time but didn't think anything of it. Well apparently they walk the mall at 8am every morning and THEY offered to drive me to the train station but I felt bad taking them up on the offer.

So this morning I look out the window because someone was honking, and it was my neighbor waiting in my driveway. She took me to the train station this morning because she said 'it was too cold for me to take a taxi.' I am so touched this morning I had to share.

BTW...What train station do you leave from?

WOW! You really don't find that too often! What I would do in a case like that is maybe get her a little Thank you token - maybe a nice little ornament or something! It's good to keep kindness like that flowing!

That was really nice, now that is what you call nice neighbors. Looking out for each other. Our neighbor takes our pkgs for us all the time. One time the older guy even rang the bell to say that we left the lights on in the car.

It's $5 to the train plus tip (even if someone shares the cab with me)

I definitely plan to get them something nice. They are offering to drive me everyday since they go mall walking daily. They said if for some reason they don't go they will let me know 'way in advance.' I can't believe how blessed I am to have such wonderful/caring neighbors.

I grew up in an EXTREMELY friendly neighborhood...I can only hope I find what you find...

plus if I had to pick someone up...I would be more motivated to do my exercise!!!

maybe you could get them one of those machines that count how much you have walked?
