My new obsession!!

Im am totally obsessed with
Pomagranates!!!

They are my new fav fruit!!
it takes me about 20 mins to cut it up and get all the goodness out!! but i love it!
Not only does it taste yum but it takes soo long to eat!!
I sit with a bowl of them and eat it like popcorn!! haha!

I'm very embarrassed to admit that I don't know how to eat one...I've bought them before but I don't understand how to scoop the seeds without that white stuff that's attached. Do you have to individually take each seed out?

yeah i take each seed out...it takes forever! its unbelievable tho how many seeds are in there!!

dont be embarrased i just found out last week how to eat one!!!

I pick each one out by hand.. its really a pain in the a$$

No girls you are spending WAY too long - here is the pomegranate secret - I used to do the same thing - shredding them open and picking stuff out but learned this trick. .

cut the pomegranate in half vertically. then take a wooden spoon and you basically whack the outside of it hard with a knife handle or spoon ( i recommend a spoon only bc I would probably cut my hand open with a knife ;) most of the seeds should fall out - for the pieces that come out with the white part on it -you put those parts in a bowl of cold water and the white part will fall right off. .

Oh I love them too! Which reminds me that I have one at home that needs to be cut up. I just hate how messy and annoying they are to cut open! I love putting the seeds in yogurt, since I don't really like yogurt, pom seeds help it go down easier.

I have another stupid pom question -- how do you tell if they are ripe. I love them, but never buy them because I never know if they're ripe (and til I saw Meara's post, I never knew the trick to getting the seeds out)!

i believe when they are a darker red color all the way around, and they are kinda heavy for their size! those are the ones ive been buying and they are yum yum yum!! ive had about 10 this week already! haha!
