we tried, he wont even put his feet down, he HATES them it was actually kind of funny but he basically refused- the equivalent of a child sitting down, crossing his arms and pouting!

this sounds silly but try zip lock bags! my uncle had a dog that had the same problem and the baggies worked... they aren't as heavy as booties so they can barely feel them when they walk but they still provide a barrier between their pads and the salt!
