It is probably my wedding band, since it is new, but for the past couple of weeks my ring has been making my finger red and itchy. last night it was worse, buring and blistery.
Any one else have that happen?
I don't have sensitive skin, so this is odd for me

Re: My rings gave me a rash
What kind of ring do you have??? is it a plain wedding band or is there diamond settings?!?!?
Sometimes...if its not a regualr band...soap and other residue gets stuck on to the setting and the moisture from your hand gives you a rash.
This happened to me with my Tiffany mesh ring. I stopped wearing my ring unitl my finger rash healed and i put bacitracin. I washed my ring gently with a tooth brush and it was fine afterwards. I would clean the part that touches your skin frequently.
I would stop wearing the ring until it heals!
Good luck!

It is a white gold band with diamonds, I have tried washing the ring a few times, but this time i am going to wait untill the rash is completely gone.

it's very strange that you would have that kind of reaction with only your wedding band.
whenever I wash my hands, I always take my rings off and make sure to dry the parts of my fingers that are still wet. like the other poster said, that could be a reason.
if that's not a possible reason why it's happening, take the ring to your jeweler and have him test the metal.

I think i need to take more of an effort to make sure i dry my rings, after i wash my hands.

Re: My rings gave me a rash
if you don't have an allergy to white gold, i would think its from wet skin after washing and/or sweat. With the band and e-ring combo, more of the skin is covered and suseptible to trapped moisture.
it happens to me every so often (red, itchy, flaky?) and i just make sure to take it off at night, moisturize it with some cocoa butter, and be sure to dry it well after washing. (plus, i find that crappy public bathroom soap makes it so much worse, so i have taken to carrying purell.)

DW didn't have a rash but something simlar to a rash on her rings.....she just wheres them in the day time and at night, she takes them off to allow some air to get down there, keeps it washed good and mositurized. she likes to use coco butter to help heal the skin...... this is a white gold ring and band

It could also be that you are allergic to your wedding band because it is a different percentage of alloy than your e-ring.
To make white gold they add different alloys - that could be your problem.
Try putting a layer of clear nail polish on the inside band of your ring. A friend who is a nurse told me about that and it has worked for her. Otherwise, you might have to have your ring dipped in a different % alloy to make your rash go away.

Re: My rings gave me a rash
I also have this problem....My DH bought me another wedding band I had my eye on as a wedding present. I wear it on my right ring finger. It is a thick white gold band with a thin layer of diamonds on the top and bottom of the band. It has etching inside it and what happens is the water gets trapped inside the etching and rips my finger apart. I use to constantly treat me finger with triple antibotic onitment and bacitracin. It would go away but the rash would always come back. THEN....I started a bad habit of taking my ring off where ever I was when I washed my hands. I just recently lost my ring by leaving in one of the bathrooms at my job and not realizing it until a couple of hours later. I cried for hours in my office. I posted flyers offering a reward. I was extremely lucky though, someone found it and returned it to me. I just wanted to tell you this story so when you do take your ring off to definitely be more concious then I was.

You could have developed on allergy to gold, I have this allergy! Allergies can develop later in life, so even if you didn't have one a couple of years ago, it can develop now. Stop wearing the rings for a few days, and see what happens after you clean them well and put them back on. If the rash comes back, you should see a dermatologist.

yes your wedding ring may be more pure gold than the band.
i have this same allergy...i started breaking out from any white gold ring - red itchy bumps. its weird because earrings dont bother me, nor do necklaces. only rings in white gold.
you may need to get a new band :(
fyi- i only got platinum because thats the only thing i am not allergic to - you may need to get a platinum band
