My SIL found a way to ruin my One Year Anniversary.
Original post by shelzyp
My DH and I had spoken about definitely going away for a week for our One Year Anniversary. DH's sister decided to get married in September, so we figured that it would be great, since it didn't coincide with our plans. Well she know decides to get married 4 days after our anniversary. Our anniversary lands on a Tuesday this year so we could not go away for only the weekend, becasue we would be home for our anniversary. Also DH's brother would be coming up for the week before the wedding, and the bachelor party would be that weekend.
I am so sick of everything we do having to be imitated!!! As soon as we got engaged, she starting talking about her wedding, and then she even picked a dress that I had considered. Everything we do, she has to do, the list is endless. SHe had to go away the same week we were on our honeymoon. I am so sick of having to change my plans for her, she has no consideration for us at all.

I know how you feel! Timing is everything especially for FSIL's.

Re: My SIL found a way to ruin my One Year Anniversary.
Oh did your post strick a cord, my SIL is difficult. She has went out of her way to hurt me in the past on many levels, I think it may be a jealousy issue.... The night before my bridal shower, she announced she was 5 weeks pregnant . She also told my Moh the day of my wedding that she knew that if wasn't her day but thought 'it should because I'm pregnant' At 3 months preggo held her stomach the whole day I didn't even notice I was having too much fun. I did receive many reports though. Anyway I understand. My mom told me I am going to have to realize that i am never going to be a priority to her and she is never going to go out of her way for me. It made me feel sad, b/c I guess I picture sitting around chatting while our kids bonded later in life. I wanted a friendship. Well I accepted it I am cordial but dont' go out of my way for her..... Hang in there, hubby's are alway bias to there brothers, especially if they are close, he probably doesn't want a problem with his brother.... Sorry so long

I totally agree with Stef.
Don't be cold or stop talking to her. There's a way of being polite and civil without really interacting too much with that person. And try to stay away from her as much as possible without drawing attention to what you're doing. Try your best to share as little of your life with her as possible, and don't even think twice about their stupid comments about your lifestyle (wedding, video camara, house, kids, whatever). Look at where the opinions are coming from - they are not even worth a moment of your time.
As far as the anniversary. If I was you I would plan a really fabulous trip after the wedding (believe me, it'll make the whole time right before the wedding go by so much easier when you can tell yourself, 'in one week I'll be in [someplace wonderful]') And DON'T TELL YOU SIL ABOUT IT!!!
Good luck with everything! And take some time out to hang out with people who love you to counteract the negative energy you are getting from this girl.
