My sister...

My sister...

My sister had gotten engaged before me and DH. We got married before her. Now my wedding is over
My sister was so good. She did not want to really get down to planning for her wedding until our wedding was over. We have been married since Sat. and my sister called me yesterday to start dress shopping with her. I feel really bad though. She was my MOH and wonderful and when she asked me go with her there was not one doubt in my mind. I just feel sad that all my planning is over. This is ok right?

Yes the feeling is OK I feel the same way. I have 2 cousins that were engaged before me and I got married before them. But they were'nt as nice and helpful as your sister was. They actually really did'nt help me out with any of the wedding planning they just really showed up and started being there a little bit at the end of the planning. Like a couple of weeks before the wedding they started to act like they cared.

So now it is your sisters time and you need to be there for her like she was for you. Atleast you get to enjoy some of the wedding stuff all over again

My sister is getting married in February and was the same way....she really didn't focus on her planning until after our wedding which was Labor Day. It is a bitter-sweet experience!

I think that since she got engaged before you, you inadvertently might've 'stolen her thunder' by planning your wedding before her's. I don't think it's a big deal, esp. if you're close as sisters, but I do think you need to realize your wedding is over and it's now her turn, so try to focus your attention on her as she did so graciously for yours!

My DH's brother got engaged RIGHT after us, and though we got married before them, I thought it was really poor timing on their part. DH's brother should've let his parents marinate in the happiness of one son getting married, not overwhelm them with two weddings in three months. It's quite insensitive, in my opinion.
