My sister s u ckssssssssss - small update

So this weekend was Ella's first birthday party. (Pictures in other post below)

As some of you may recall, my sister was a total a$$hole at my wedding & I have only spoken to her once since. She made a scene, was TOTALLY on drugs and acted like a drama queen, like always. She tried to upstage me on my wedding day. B!tch.

Ok so she apparently COMPLAINED to BOTH my parents that she wasn't invited to Ella's birthday party. . Ok but um #1 - last thing I invited you to... you kind of s ucked at. #2 - you have not ONCE called to ask how Ella is, you have never asked for a picture, you have never asked to visit, you have never called tyo apologize, you did not send a Christmas card or gift for her, you have not even asked what she looks like. SO WHY would I invite you when you have shown ZERO interest in my child. But ME being the a$$hole said 'fine - tell her she's invited.' What does she do? She throws a fit, according to my mother & says 'I CAN'T GO TO RHODE ISLAND, I have to work. I'm a single mother! We're not all married & rich!' Fine, whatever, you suck and I'm not rich. We have jobs & we don't blow our money on drugs. You just wanted drama & attention as usual.

However, her 2 kids, ages 5 & 10, were invited & they came with my dad from LI for the day.

Ok, for starters, they are the devil's spawn. the 5 year old RIPPED my house apart & made me a wreck. They made my baby SCREAM from the second they walked in the door. They shout & never listen. I tried to 'enjoy them' since they are my niece & nephew, but quite honestly, they are just not enjoyable. The 10 year old got into a fight with DH's cousin's kid & STORMED out of the party the exact way his mother would, making a scene & screaming 'SCREW THIS' and ran outside into the pouring rain. My dad went after him & so did DH. It was embarrassing. the 5 year old stuck her greasy little fingers into my $75 birthday cake & demanded to blow out the candles. She also stuck her hands in the big bowl of jello. Lovely.

Ok fine... not all kids are perfect, I know and i can handle that, BUT.... MY SISTER DID NOT SEND A BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR ELLA. Do you honestly think they go to their FRIEND'S parties empty handed. I doubt it.

Now, we don't NEED the gifts, but its just RUDE. She claimed when I spoke to her the day after Christmas (1st and only time since the wedding) that she had Christmas gifts for me, DH & Ella & our wedding present. Instead she sent 2 unruly kids & 1 scrawny stuffed animal wearing a santa hat & no birthday gift or even card. Its embarrassing in front of DH to have such an a$$hole for a sister.

UPDATE
ETA - Just spoke to my dad & asked innocently “was the Elmo outfit from you guys or from niece & nephew?” He said “no, that was from us. Your sister is going to mail you a gift.” I then said “was the Christmas bear from her?” He said no, that was from him too. I was giving her credit for the bear & it was actually from my dad. So she didn't even send the bear. She sent nothing. No Christmas gift for her ONLY niece and no birthday gift.

Save yourself the grief and just be done with your sister.

That is just rude! You are a better person than I, I can tell you that. I would have been handing out beatins to everyone! I'm just kidding but that's ridiculous. You have every right to be annoyed.

I hate to say it, but I totally agree with Susi on this one. It's definitely not worth the headaches she gives you!

Family are the ties that bind and GAG sugar!

I would say don't even bother. ***** because she is your sister but honestly, she is not acting like blood in the sense of being there for you through thick and thin even through disagreements, so i wouldn't regard her as family. If she were just a friend you would have written her off already so just think of it that way.

Sorry poor ella didn't even geta TY card.

It sounded a bit harsh when I wrote this, but I remember all the grief she gave you at your wedding, and Ella did not deserve to have her first birthday turn out this way.
Unfortunately your niece and nephew cannot be blamed for their behavior, only their mother can be blamed for raising them to act that way.
You can be the bigger sister and send cards for the children at birthdays and Christmas, send a gift if you see fit.
Just don't expect anything in return but your own peace of mind that you are doing the right thing.

Distance yourself as much as you can for your own health and sanity. I wouldn't say anything to your parents about it though, or your sis will use it as an excuse for more drama.

Your baby is a cutie pie!

wow, that really does s uck! I'm sorry to hear that she and her kids ruined your daughter's party! I'm tempted to say just be done with her, but I'm curious: has she always been like this? Or could it be due to her current lifestyle (as you mentioned being a single mother and drug use)? Maybe she doesn't mean to be this way but just can't cope with stresses in her life the right way? If this is the case, then hopefully she can get some help and you two can mend your relationship. But if it's not the case and she's always been like this, then you probably would be better off distancing yourself from her as much as possible without causing more drama for yourself and your parents. good luck!

Dearest Caroline,
We are so sorry to hear about this again. You do not need to think about her at this point. She has really done a job on herself and if she wants to make herself a better person; she can do it on her own. No one else can help her out.
Besides the bit of craziness; How was Ella's 1st Birthday? Did she get to have a little bit of a pretty good time. I remembered when you were starting to plan it and you posted cute 1st birthday dresses. I think you would make a great party planner.
Here are some hugs. Wish Ella A Happy Belated 1st Birthday from us. Don't worry about your sister it takes too much energy out of you and it's too stressful. Chat with you soon on LIW.

aw, thanks everyone My sister has always been like this so I have little faith that she'll change. Oh well.... onward & upwards!

Ella's party WAS great, despite my crappy sister & her unruly kids. I love them, they just stress me out.

Here are a couple pics - LOOK at her cake!!!! Isn't it the CUTEST cake you have ever seen??????

this is one of my FAVORITES - DH's 94 year old grandmother with Elmo.

I agree, just dont even try with her anymore. You have more then enough times tried and it gets to a certain point where you just cant anymore.

That cake is fabulous and as always a beautiful family

Caroline,
You created the sweetest birthday for Ella. She looked like she had a wonderful time. The cake is beautiful and must have been yummy. Elmo looked like he entertained everyone. You did a wonderful job on Ella's 1st Birthday. You should look into party planning because are great at it.
