My Update - 3/6

Sorry to leave you guys hanging so long waiting for an update .... I wasn't feeling up to posting when I first got home ... but I didn't want the night to pass leaving you wonderful girls worrying about me w/o any news.



I had my appointment with the Orthopedist this afternoon.

Not sure this can be considered 'good news' Its definitely not what I was expecting to hear at all! I was expecting to hear that I screwed up my shoulder, but that I would be good as new after some PT.

Guess not

The orthopedist says he doesn't think its an Orthopedic problem either. He thinks there is something more going on that hasn't been diagnosed yet. He thinks there is a larger problem causing all the pain I am going through. He didn't see a reason to send me for more XRAYs and MRIs, if that's not the root cause of the problem.

So .... he wants me to see a Rheumatologist (sp?) and have some blood work done.

He thinks it could be Fibromyalgia.

I'm very disappointed and frustrated, I was really hoping that I was nearing the light at the end of the tunnel .... but it seems this may only be the beginning. I just don't know how to mentally wrap my brain around this whole situation.

Anyone have advice to share?

okay - so fibromyalgia is the START of something - i realize that it's not the answer you wanted - but at least you are nearing a true diagnosis...

fibromyalgia ***** - but it is manageable with the right meds, etc. I've had a few people in my life with it - but my MIL is in Fl at the moment. As soon as she gets back - i'll ask her about it and if she has any 'tricks' that may help get you some relief....

for now - cry, let it all out...we're here to listen....to vent to....to come to when you're worried....

Just look at it as a 2nd or 3rd opinion.

My Prayers are still with you.

It is Manageable with meds. Both my Mom & MIL has Fibromyalgia.

Oh Jess, I'm really sorry to hear this, but nothing is yet determined and you may not have fibromyalgia. The most important thing is to get a correct diagnosis - if it IS fibromyalgia, they can treat it and help you feel better!!! I pray that you start to feel better soon!!! You must be so incredibly frustrated with everything - please know that we are all here for you!

The pain has been somewhat manageable with the pain meds ... but I still am unable to resume any of my 'normal' activities .... I am still doing what work I can from home.

Unfortunately, they're not the kind of meds that *fix you* .... the just mask the problem for a few hours at at a time.

I've been able to go into work for a couple of hours at a time, once a week for the last 3 weeks. Even though I haven't been able to do much while there, at least I can *be* there ....

Jess, so sorry you didn't get the news you were hoping for.
But remember knowledge is power and the more you know the easier it will be to get better. Glad the pain has somewhat subsided, with meds at least.
Hope they figure it out soon and it is something that you can cope with

i will be praying for you!

no one wants to be diagnosed with any type of ailment but like the other girls said, once you get it under control - whatever it is - you can go back to a more active lifestyle!
