ok so where do I begin. I live in suffolk and not sure how to begin the process of changing my name??

Once you receive your marriage certificate in the mail, you can take this to the SS office and get a new card. You take the certificate with you to DMV and get a new license (note that you MUST take a new picture whenever you change your name, so be prepared ).
As for credit cards, you just call them and change it over the phone. When you go change your license, you should change the title to your car at the same time.
What else? Hmmm, call up your health insurance, car insurance, homeowner's/renter's insurance, etc and see what they need to change your name - usually a phone call is enough.
Don't forget to change your name at work so your paychecks come in with the right name - your HR director can tell you what your job needs.
And bring your marriage certificate to you bank(s) to change your name there too.

How long does it normally take to get a marraige certificate? i still haven't gotten mine? is that normal?

My marriage cert came in 2 weeks. I went to DMV first to change my name, then social security. All was VERY easy.
To change your name on credits and such is very easy too...all you have to do is call. The bank I had to do in person! HTH!

i got my ss card first. i still havnt gotten my license. I dont have time to take off work to get it. So its going to have to wait. But m keeping a copy of the marrige cerificate with me. I changed my credit card and Im going to change it at my bank soon.
