I know there have been several posts on this topic, but I couldn't find an exact answer for my situation. I want to keep my name for work and take on FH's name for everything else. I also do not want to lose my middle name. What is the best way to do this? Do I hyphenate? Do I just tack his name on the end of mine and have four names? Can I interchange names if I do either of these options? Also, what do I put on the marriage license? Thanks!

Re: name change
Professionally, I still go by my maiden name. Everything else I am using my married name. I did not lose my middle name. On the marriage certificate, I wrote in the married name (Denise Julia Married Name). I changed my name legally everywhere else to match this. I even changed my name with payroll to match soc. security and stuff and changed my benefits. I just still go by the maiden name. I haven't had any problems. I have a few certifications in my maiden name as well - I haven't looked into what is proper for those but they aren't anything too high-level so not sure if it is worth looking into.
Not sure if this is what you mean - or if this would work for you.

Re: name change
Thanks Neicey! I don't think that would work for me though. I am finishing my degree in December and I really want my maiden name on it. Any other suggestions? I know there are people here who have done this. Please help! I am going to get my marriage license this week.

Re: name change
Anyone else? Please? I know other people posted that they kept their maiden name for work. How do you do this? What goes on the marriage license? Is it better to hyphenate or can I just have four names?

Re: name change
I know someone who kept her maiden name at work & changed it on her ML to his name casue she used his name for everything else.
Maybe use your first, middle & his last name on ML?

Re: name change
Thanks Jenn. So, she pretty much changed everything yet goes by maiden professionally? I don't know if that will work. I want my maiden name on my degree and whenever I am addressed as Dr. I want it to be Dr. Maiden. Other than that it will be Mrs. Married. I would think I would have to keep my married name somehow to do this, right? That's why I thought have all four names? I don't know. This is getting really complicated. Maybe I can ask when I get the marriage license. They should know, right?
