I renewed my passport over a year ago, so I have to apply for a new one in order to change my name.
I printed the application. I made a copy of my new driver's license. I got a certified copy of my marriage license (certificate). I have to get new photos. Then send everything (including my old passport) to somewhere.
If anyone else had to go through all this, how long did it take to get your new passport?
We don't have any travel plans in the near future, but just wondering how long I'll have to wait.
TIA

Re: Name Change on Passport older than 1 year?
My MIL applied for her passport and got hers in less than 3 wks. It was a renewal.
I know its not the same thing but the turn around I have been hearing is at most 4 wks..

The renewal process is somewhat shorter than getting a brand new passport. You should have your new passport in 3-6 weeks. HTH

Yep - I had mine back in about a month when I submitted it for a name change (and this was during the height of the time they were backlogged).
I definitely would do it now - it's a good thing to have.

DH & I applied for a NEW passports in January & got them back less than 3 weeks. If renewals are faster you might get it in 2 weeks.

I did mine a few weeks ago. It takes about 2 weeks and you get all of the documentation back.
