Name Change Question!!

Name Change Question!!

Finally going to change my name at SS in Freeport next week...
My BF says she had to turn in her old SS card when she changed her name last year...I don't have my old card, I have no idea where it is!!!
Has anyone else had to turn over their old card when they went to the SS office?!?!?!

I didn't have my card & I had no problem. I think the MO is if you have it, it should be turned in, but if you don't have it no big deal.

I went to the ss office in mineloa.

They asked if I had my old card, I told them I didn't. It wasn't a problem at all.

same here -- they didn't ask at the S.S office but I know the DMV sometimes takes your old license

i just did it yesterday - u dont need to bring it...just proof of ur old name, ur birthdate, and ur new name. i brought: marraige license, old drivers license, new drivers license & passport.
