Name Change Stuff

I still have not changed my name on any of my bank accounts, credits cards or student loans. Has anyone done this yet? What is the procedure for it? Where the loans hard to change? Do I have to change my name on these accounts or can I leave it in my maiden name?? I want to mail out for my new passport asap but then I won't have my name change certificate if needed.

I def. still need to do my passport ASAP as I'm going to London in Sept.

I changed all my bank accounts in 1 shot when DH and I went to deposit wedding gifts. I just needed to provide them with my marriage license and that was it. My new last name was on that so I didn't have to worry about SS or DMV first.

As for credit cards I just called them up and changed it over the phone. It was a little concerning how easy it was to do that lol.

Oh, I haven't changed any of my information for my loans. I don't think I'm going to since I just do everything online anyway. Plus I hyphenated my name so I don't think it will be that big of a deal. Hopefully

I took a day off and went to the dmv, changed my name there, then went to Soc Sec and changed it there...
i never went to the bank to change my name, instead i opened an account at a different bank, because i hated my first one.

you do need your wedding certificate to do ANYTHING.

I just filled out my financial aid and they made me change my name at school. It has to match your social security card. I changed my name so that it is first, middle, maiden, married( without the hyphen). I wanted to keep school just first maiden for my certifications and I was told and called 2 times that i HAD TO change it so it matched even though they had my maiden name listed for both.
School was the one reason i kept maiden name, I should have just changed it completely
