Name Change/DMV question

Does anyone know if I have to bring my registration for my car to change that too- I cant seem to find it and I wanted to go today.

Yes. Also, they make you retake your pic. I had to go back b/c I didnt shower before and looked gross.

Not sure. I would tell them that since you cant find it maybe you did lose it.

thanks girls- i went at 11 and I found my registration , so they took my picture, took the forms that I filled out & I was done in 15 minutes!

I didn't need my registration either...just my license. Actually, I don't think she even looked at the marriage certificate, come to think of it. I had to take a new picture though.

question - do you have to go to dmv after going to social security or doesn't it matter? and are those the only two places you actually have to GO to?

I dont think it matters- I went to DMV first but the girl I work with said she went to SS first.

I am mailing in my passport, so thats it for in person- all my credit cards & bank accounts took it over the phone

I am mailing in my passport, so thats it for in person- all my credit cards & bank accounts took it over the phone

Can I change credit cards, etc before I go to SS and DMV? The damn town hall gave me the wrong copy of the marriage license when I got it, so the wrong one was signed by the witnesses and minister ... so i have to go back to town hall, get the right copy, sign it, and get the minister and witnesses to sign it ... then wait for albany to mail it to me. pain in the arrrrrse.

not one of my credit cards- Amex Blue and Carnival card from Barclays Bank asked me for my marriage license but the bank needed it and so did dmv hth

I went to change my name and they wouldnt let me without the title so bring your title if you have it. My car is leased and i dont ever remember getting a title- is it possible that i didnt ??

I don't think you would get a title with a lease.

i went to DMV first...it was just on the route that way...
BUT...

if you are going to be changing your name/getting a new car ins plan since you are now married you may need to change your name on the title...they told me it was the best thing to do...but it is free!

Great - maybe I can get started on the cards now, and do the dmv / social security / banks when i get my the certificate back.
