I've been on hold forever so I figured I'd ask you knowledgable ladies while I wait...if I live in Queens can I still go to the Brooklyn card center to apply for my new SS card, or do I have to go to the Queens office??

Re: Name change...Social Security
If you live in Queens you can only go to Jamaica to have your name changed. No other office will do that.
Download the forms, go early in the morning, it takes no time at all to be finished.

I am pretty sure you can go to either office to have it changed.

Ya know..I think they gave me wrong info when I called the SS office the other day. They said I can go to ANY office even though I'm a queens residents, but I just spoke to a friend who said she tried to do that and they turned her away. How do they not even know their own rules??
Did anyone go to a social security office outside of their residential area? I was planning on going today at lunch (to the Manhattan or Brooklyn office)...but now I may not be able to...I really just want to change my name already-I feel bad that I've put this off.
