Name Changing Help- Did you use a kit?

Okay, so I'm a bad wife. We've been married almost 4 months and I keep putting off all the official name changing stuff.

I want to get it done now...

Did you use a kit?
Did you have to pay for it?
Where did you get it?
How much was it?

if you do a google search you can find articles on what to change ...

start with SS, then move onto DMV.

In the meantime, most credit card places only need a verbal notification or some may need you to send or fax a copy of the marriage license.

I'd write down vendors you deal with (Verizon, Cablevision, Car Loan, etc, etc, etc...) and start down the list.

As your mail comes in you can figure out what you missed.

Also, tell your employer to change all the info (payroll, benefits, emergency contact), they most likely need the SS card and marriage license too.

I didnt use a kit. I first went to SS and then DMV. As my mail came in I started calling credit card companies and then just called other companies/people that still had my maiden name.

i used a kit because i wanted to make sure i did everything and didn't forget any of them....i got a book at a book store that helped out

nope didnt use the kit either
social security
dmv
insurance ( auto and life)
health insurance cards
professional licenses
diplomas
utility bills
cellular bill
with finance company for car
lets see what else was there - you know i find stuff about every week that i am like oh yeah that too...
you'll do fine just as stuff comes in over the month change the name.

No kit here. Went to SS then DMV Then called my Credit card companys and they changed it over the phone!
