Isn't it great being a newlywed! I'm loving it but now I have to start thinking of the dreaded name-change fiasco. Are you all doing it yourselves or using a name change service like MissNowMrs.com?
I did a quick search on old posts but didn't find any hugely helpful advice. Anyone?
Thanks! So sounds like most of you just made your own lists and did all the applications and such on your own - didn't use a service or 'kit' or anything like that right?

I wouldn't trust anyone else to do it for me. But that's just me.

All those 'kits' are a waste of money. It's really not that hard to do it on your own. They only thing you have to do in person is SS and the DMV. CC's and stuff like that, all I did was call customer service and I was sent a new card. My bank and insurance I just faxed a copy of my marriage license.

I am doing everything on my own. It's tedious but definitely doable.

Save the fee that these services charge and just do it yourself. It is not that bad. The biggest hassle was SS and DMV, but I went early in the day in the middle of the month and was in and out of each office in 15 minutes.
Passport name was changed thru the mail, yes you have to send your original marriage certificate but it comes back to you with the passport or in a separate mailing.
Personally, I am not comfortable giving complete strangers that much personal information.

Thanks everyone. Great advice! I'll start with SS and then go to DMV and make a list from there.

I can't do anything yet til i get my license...but i am probably gonna do everything myself. I helped my girlfriend do it last year when i was in her bridal party and it is a pain in the behind... but i'm sure slowly i'll get it done..lol!
